The Eye's Are The Window To The Soul

It was midnight and an eerie quiet took hold of the night. I sat on my bed with the gun in hand, fully loaded. Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock went the wristwatch on my right arm. Kaname had given it to me as a birthday present last year. I treasured it with all the love I had for him. Ha. Love for a pureblood. I found the whole idea ironic. I was an elite hunter, the main soul that took the Pureblood Rido Kuran's life force from him. I was the one that hunted the "scary" vampires in the dark. I took vampires lives for a living, yet, here I was, head over heels in love with not only a vampire but the King of Vampires, Kaname Kuran. It was laughable, but I couldn't take the joke any longer. The constant choice I have to make over him or my lineage. I was drained at such an emotional choice.

I lifted the gun and put it to my head. I knew he was coming. For some odd reason, he always knew when I was getting ready to do it. I heard him racing down the hall as I began to squeeze the trigger and just then Kaname himself burst through my room door.

You know that myth of the eye's being the windows to the soul. Well, I was sure Kaname could read mine. He went rigid as he his wine orbs landed upon my face. I smiled at him as the tears slipped out my dull eyes. He knew the message I was sending from my soul through my lilac eyes to him.

'I'm sorry for the pain I'm putting you in, I must be the worst person of all times. I will not let you down any longer. I'm gonna let you go, my love, so you can experience the true joys of life and love. I am unworthy of such faithful, trusting, and unwavering love such as yours. I will disappear from this world completely so I don't corrupt anyone else. I'm sorry, My love. No, I no longer have the right to call you that, and for which I am even sorrier, and my sorrow will last an infinity alongside my love for you. Good-bye, Kaname Kuran.'

Kaname was sending a message of his own. His eyes told me wanted to get up and run to me, but his legs wouldn't move. He wanted to tell me everything is going to be okay, and that everything I was thinking is incorrect. He wanted mostly to say that the one not worthy was him, but his body hadn't caught up with his mind. He felt like he wasn't as quick as he could be, as he should've been. I let all emotions drain from me as I pulled the trigger. The only thing that was left behind was an empty corpse with glazed over glass lilac orbs. The last image I'd seen were Kaname's eyes wearing a silent scream. The score was now Kaname: 39 and Zero: 1, and with that, it was the end of the game.
