You rushed to the kettle, loading a small bag full of popcorn. It was a Saturday evening, and it was especially busy. You were working hard to keep the lines moving, trying to make things efficient as possible. Soon enough the lines thinned out and customers left to see their movies. You let out a small sigh, now it was time to clean and restock during the temporary lull. You immediately went to work, while your co workers stood around leaving you to do all the work. You grumbled under your breath about it, but said nothing. While sweeping two monsters came in. It wasn’t unusual for monsters to stop by the theater now that they had integrated into society, in fact you much rather preferred them to the human customers. They were two skeletons, one was short and had bright blue starry eyes. The other was taller and wore a orange hoodie. They walked up to the counter waiting for someone to help them. You tried calling out to a co worker behind the counter to help them, but they completely ignored you. Grumbling to yourself, you set down the broom and walked behind the till the two skeletons were waiting by. You put on a smile and tried your best to keep a calm appearance.
“Hello! What can I get for you?” You forced out in an overly cheery voice. It was rather obvious that you were faking it, but the blue one seemed to like your enthusiasm. He gave you a large smile as he set some money on the counter.
“Me and my brother would like two tickets and a bag of popcorn please!!” He practically yelled. You couldn’t help but chuckle a bit. He seemed so young and innocent, not yet hardened by this cruel world.
“Oh if you could put lots of butter on it that be great.” The skeleton in the orange hoodie spoke up. “Papyrus!! You know it’s not very healthy to have so much of that stuff!!” The blue one seemed to be a little annoyed with the other. “Heh, sorry can’t help it bro. I like my popcorn soaked in the stuff.” The smaller skeleton huffed as he put his hands on his hips.
“Um...I can put light butter on the popcorn. That way you both get a bit of what you want.” you interjected. They both looked at you for a bit before the orange one spoke up. “That’s actually not too bad a compromise, whatcha think Sans?” He leaned over and rested his arm on the smaller skeleton.
“I suppose it will work, but you should really consider eating better!!” The smaller one sighed. The other smirked and shrugged to reply. After their little quarrel you got them a bag of popcorn and printed out their tickets. Before you handed them their items you counted the money on the counter. It was perfect change, so you gladly handed them their tickets and popcorn.
“Thank you very much!!” The smaller one said as he waved goodbye. You gave him a little smile and waved back. “Yeah, thanks. Was pretty nice having someone as cute as you selling us our tickets.” The taller one winked. You were caught a little of guard by the sudden flirting, and a slight blush came across your face. The other gave him a little jab to the side while he just chuckled in response. Pretty soon they were out of sight, on their way to the theater. You smiled a bit, it was rare to get such nice customers. Snapping back to reality, you realized you still had a lot of work to do. You realized it was only about an hour until closing. Letting out a sigh you went straight to work. You let out a contented sigh. You and a few other co-workers had just finished up closing. The kettle was clean, candy was stocked, all the machines were cleaned up, the soda was stocked, and the floors swept and mopped. Your co-workers had already left for home, but you usually waited for the okay from your manager. You sat and daydreamed for a bit, watching as people started flowing out of the theater. One of the last movies of the night must have gotten out. Your thoughts trailed back to the two skeletons from earlier. Lost in your thoughts, you didn’t notice your manager approach. He startled you slightly, but he gave you the signal to leave. You thanked him and said your goodbyes before heading of with the crowd. You didn’t live to far from the theater so you usually walked home. You grabbed some headphones and your phone out of the small sack you carried with you. Putting the headphones on and putting your music on shuffle, you continued on your way home. You were pretty tired from working a double shift today, so you didn’t notice the figure following you. The music made you unable to hear the rapid approaching footprints from behind. By the time you even suspected something was up, you felt something grab your arm roughly. You let out a little squeal and tried to identify what was happening. You had been grabbed by a large man, he wore ragged clothes and held a knife. Panic surged through you all of a sudden.
“L-let go!!” You shouted. You tried fighting against the man’s grip, kicking and screaming. He let out a growl of annoyance, then took his knife sticking it violently into your right wrist. You screamed out loudly in pain before the man covered your mouth.
“Shut up and behave and I might let you leave alive.” He threatened. You were terrified now. Fear coursing through your veins like lead. You still struggled, but soon quit when he started to twist the knife in your wrist. Once you stopped resisting, he stuck a hand under your shirt. You tried to move in protest, but the pain from your wound stopped you. He removed your bra violently, completely breaking it. Soon he started fondling your breast. At this point tears started streaming down your cheeks. You didn’t want this, and you were so scared that after this man got what he wanted he would kill you. You were almost about to give up any hope when you heard a voice from afar.
“GET OFF OF HER NOW!!!!” The voice said. It was familiar to you, but you couldn’t place it. Soon you felt the man pried off of you, his knife painfully removed. You fell to the ground. That’s when you saw them, the two skeletons from earlier. The taller one had the man pinned to the ground, while the blue one rushed to your aid.
“Are you okay? Don’t worry me and my brother can help you.” He told you surprisingly calmly. You said nothing, still to stunned and shocked about what was happening. “Oh no, your hand!” The small skeleton carefully examined your wrist. He shook his head before glancing over to the taller one, who looked rather pissed as he held down the strange man.
“Wh-what…..what n-now?...” You barely managed to rasp out. Both of them glanced over at you, which was a mistake for the taller one. It gave the man an opportunity to escape, shoving the taller one off of him. You could hear the sound of metal hitting concrete but you ignored it for now. The taller one cursed under his breath before letting out an angry sigh. His anger soon turned to worry.
“Is she okay Sans?” He slowly approached, making sure not to frighten you any more. “Well….She has a bad cut on her wrist, but other than that she’s okay.”
“Good…..Oh sorry, we never exchanged names. I’m Papyrus and that’s my bro Sans.”
Papyrus said gently. You just slowly nodded, not feeling up to talking. “Papyrus...what are we gonna do?” Sans sounded very worried. Papyrus sighed.
“Well….let’s get her somewhere safe first. Then we can patch her up.” Sans nodded, and looking rather determined, he tried to help you stand. You didn’t fight against his movements, you just let him slowly guide you to a standing position. You noticed Sans looking at you with great concern, that’s when you realized you were barely able to stand. You shook too much, and your legs could barely support your weight. Sans was about to say something, but Papyrus suddenly picked you up. You tried saying something in protest but Papyrus shushed you.
“Calm down, you can barely stand right now. Just focus on resting, we’re gonna get you somewhere safe.” He murmured softly. You didn’t know why, but you trusted him even though you barely knew him. Things started to get fuzzy at this point. Your thoughts blurred together and your vision started to fade. Soon you drifted off into a light sleep in Papyrus’s arms
