PICTURE OF SOPHIA :)

Sophia's POV

"Mom? Dad? Are you home?" I asked shutting the door behind me. I set my purse and shades on the mini coffee table.

I walked down the hallway and into the kitchen. Mom isn't there but there's a piece of paper folded neatly on the counter. I picked it up and scanned through it. I can't believe they're leaving me again. They always do this to me. They didn't even say goodbye to me. At least they left me some money to buy food. I set the note back down on the counter and walked to my room.

Sometimes I think my parents want nothing to do with me so, they just leave me here to fend for myself. I just wish that I could go with them. It's been like that ever since Benji left. They separated themselves from me. I think they blame me for Benji leaving. I do too.

I opened my bedroom door and sat on my bed. My date with Xavier was terrible. All he did was talk! I didn't He's really sweet though, I don't like a chatterbox. I like someone who's quiet. Only talks when he has something important to say.

I wonder what's on TV. Oh wait, I don't own a TV. You see, daddy dearest thought I should focus more on school work instead of the uneducational television shows that air on TV. He seriously wants to see me suffer. I guess I can go and call up my best friend who's currently suspended from school.

I walked back downstairs and grabbed my cellphone from out of my purse. I scrolled down to her name and clicked on it. She picked up after the third ring.

"Hey Sophia." Janis said in a cheery tone.

"Stop calling me that."

"You were born with it. Get over it. Did you get my homework?"

"Nope. I forgot," I say and she growled. “Sorry."

"Yeah whatever. I can make it up tomorrow." she says with a sigh.

Janis Petty, my best friend in the entire world, is a delinquent. She may look cute and innocent but she likes to have fun. I don't care if she's a delinquent at all. We've been best friends since the third grade. I love her to death. I've actually bailed her out of jail three times in a row. My parents don't approve of our friendship but you can never break a friendship.

Janis is SO pretty. I'm jealous of her eyes. They're like blueish gray. She's just naturally pretty. She has a boyfriend, Jason. I don't think they're going to last that long. Janis hasn't been feeling great like she’s usually been. She also told me that they're in an argument. I don't approve of Jason. He's always bringing her down. But I feel like a bad friend. She means the whole world to me. She's the only thing that's keeping me from falling apart.

"You want me to pick you up for school tomorrow?" I asked her.

"You don't have to, but can you?"

"You don't even have to ask." I smiled and we talked about boys and other stuff.

***

I parked the car in front of Janis's driveway. I walked right inside her house and was greeted with a muffin thrown at my head. Jani's little brother Damien was laughing at me. So he threw that muffin at me. Mr. and Mrs. Petty were in the kitchen fixing themselves up a cup of coffee. I waved him at them and made my way to Janis's bedroom, tripping over Damien's action figures. I knocked on Janis's door and she walked out, slinging her backpack over her shoulder.

"Let's go."

I followed her out into the living room where it was louder than a Justin Bieber concert. I can't believe that one child can make so much noise. It's impossible I can't even make that much noise. He must've had sugar this morning.
