Mark's POV
...

"Mark, wake your happy ass up or you're gonna be late for your first day of school!" Mom yelled from downstairs like she does every morning.

I forced my eyes open, finding myself being temporarily blinded by the ceiling light directly above me. Covering my eyes with my arm, I groaned in annoyance at the fact that I'd have to drag my ass out of bed to once more make myself subject to the mental abuse of the education system for 180 days that I could be spending sitting in my room all day making YouTube videos and playing video games like I want to. Oh well... I guess I'll never truly have my way.

I slugged out of bed and felt my way to to the light-switch on the wall by my door, and just as I was about to flip the switch down to turn off the light so I could go back to sleep, the door swung open and hit me square in the face. I shouted in pain and mom became frantic.

"Oh, goodness Mark! Are you okay?" she said, concerned for me like any mother would, even though she takes it too far like most moms.

"Yes Mom, I'm fine," I said in a monotone voice that said I wasn't fine.

"Don't lie to me, young man! You were trying to turn the light off again, weren't you? Stop doing that. Get dressed and haul your behind to school before I get really pissed off," she said, realizing that I was picking a fight like always.

"Alright, alright, I'm sorry. Just knock before you come barreling in here like a battering ram, or you'll end up taking my eye out," I said, reaching for my glasses sitting on the bedside table not two feet away, the blinding light dampening my already horrible eyesight, which definitely wasn't helping the situation.
