Anna knew it was stupid, walking through the alley that was notoriously known for criminal acts she didn't even want to think about but it was the quickest way home. She had to admit she liked the thought of being dangerous and reckless even if it did mean her getting into trouble. Although she did know how to defend herself, what with years of martial arts and defence classes, she knew if she was attacked by a group she wouldn't be able t fight them off. Of course as soon as you think like that you know that it will actually happen, it's the way of life she thought.

So as she made her way through the dingy passage she thought she heard someone behind her, turning around and trying to settle her racing heart, she was met with...nothing. "Stupid paranoia" she muttered under her breath. Calming herself down she carried on making her way home, or what was left of her home, if you could even call it that. Her brothers and sisters had all left when they turned 18 and left her not one of them thinking of taking her with them. So she was stuck with her alcoholic father who regularly beat her because he was angry. Angry at the fact her mother had died, angry that she looked like her, but most of all angry that they never had enough alcohol in the house to feed his habit. That's why she had started with the defence and martial arts, so she could defend herself against the person you would least likely expect to hurt her.

This time when she heard a noise behind her, she wasn't just imagining it; there was no thrill to be rebellious now. She knew there was something stalking her, she quickened her pace in an effort to get away - she heard a growl that sounded more animalistic than any predator she had ever heard of - and was rewarded by being thrown into a wall, her back made impact first then her head. She saw black spots in front of her eyes and tried to blink them away. She tried to move her body to try and escape but it was useless her body just laid limp on the floor easy prey for a dangerous predator. She was lifted up of the floor and pushed roughly against the wall, with an arm against her shoulder supporting her weight.

Her attacker placed his finger under her chin and lifted her face so that they were eye level. She stared into the most amazing green eyes that held no emotion. Yet she couldn't believe the beauty before her very own eyes. He watched her reaction, like he was some sort of animal feeding of her fear, as his canine teeth elongated in to fangs. Her heart beat erratically as what this creature was finally became known. Of course she could just be imagining this from being concussed but there was a reality to what was going to happen, one that couldn't be stopped.

The animal in front of her roughly tilted her head to the side exposing her neck. He took his time in fearing her in how she was to die, kissing and licking at her neck, then right before he struck down he stared into her eyes once more and smiled at her fear as if he enjoyed I more. They hadn't even said a word; Anna hadn't even begged for her life, she would be caught dead before she begged which is what was happening now.

There was nothing that could have prepared Anna for the pain that spread through her body. There was no way in which it could be described as but agonising, torturous pain. She could feel him pulling at her neck, his mouth sucking her lifeblood away and she was powerless to stop. She tried to scream but he forced his hand over her mouth. Her spine bowed at the pain and she stared to struggle in the hopes of getting free from the pain but it only made it worse.

When you die you always think of your life flashing before your eyes cliché, but it was a lie of course, all Anna saw was blackness as the dark alley around her faded. She couldn't help but think again how cliché it was that she was to die by a vampire. She could have sworn that she heard someone shouting at the creature that had attacked her right before darkness filed her vision and all she knew was pain.

As Aden loaded the girl into a cab, sending her safely home, he realised that he had lost track of Damien. Muttering under his breath after paying for the taxi, he turned and ran o the Alley in which they had scouted out their pray for the evening. Although he and his family never killed people, it sometimes became hard to resist after a long period of not sating the hunger. It came as no shock when he found his brother feasting upon a young brunette. She had clearly been thrown about if the cuts on her head were any indication. She was also completely limp in Damien's arms, which meant she had completely passed out. Through his vampire hearing though he detected the weak beat of her heart, she was close to death.
