Derek's pov

"C-mon Derek," Kate sexily whispered in my ear.

"Fine." I said eyerolling, kissing her passionately. Kate and I had an interesting day earlier. Picnicking in the woods, shopping, romantic mood lighting. Not something I'd usually do, but this time, it was different. I don't know what it was but, today was different, Kate was different.

"There was something off that night, she wreaked of excitement."

»

Kate grabbed my shirt and lifted it up and over my head. Once my shirt was off she scooted down a bit, grabbing hold of my jeans. She looked up at me with a grin on her face. She stuck out her tongue and licked my abdomen. I rolled my eyes back in my head with pleasure and then made eye contact with her, kissing her.

"Remember what that feels like."

»

"It was what she did when she held me captive, torturing me."

»

I grabbed Kate's hair, pushing it behind her head and started to kiss her neck. I started to move my hips in motion of the kisses.
"I've had better so far." Kate stated, making me angry, and a turn on in a way. It was like my red light turned to green all of a sudden. My beta eyes into an alpha's.
"It'll be your best once it's over."

»

"Lets say that got heated real quick."

»

Kate ripped her tank top open, revealing her bra and dog tag from the military. I just grinned and kissed her again. The shirtlessness led to pantlessness. And that led to, well, you can predict the rest, the usual. Kisses on the lips and skin eventually turned to moans from me and groans from her.

»

"Then what?" Stiles asked.
"I'm getting to that."

»

About a week later, Kate contacted me and we met at my house.
"There's something we need to talk about Derek." Her stench was anxiety. "We can talk about anything," I said grabbing her hand, plopping down on the stairs. "Okay good," she started off. "Remember that sex we had?" She asked. "Of course I do," I say grinning, and kissing her. She turned away like she didn't want to kiss me at that moment. "What's wrong Kate?" I question concerned.

"I'm pregnant."

»

"You're really good at telling jokes Sour Wolf."
"I'm not joking."

»

"What?" I'm flabbergasted.
"I don't know if you used protection or not but it happened, Okay. I'm going to move down South for a bit. Once our child is born it will stay in the hospital as long as it needs to. Then I will put it up for adoption." Kate flooded my brain with information.

"How come you can't raise our child here?" I ask, disappointed.

"I don't want our child to suffer the supernatural things. I want her to be free of that. Wether our child finds its way back here or not, I don't want it to decide: Argent or Hale. Goodbye Derek."
Kate left. A single tear fell down my face. I couldn't tell if it was joy or sadness. Joy for Kate being pregnant, or sadness for not being able to be in our child's life.

»

"Kate came into the story after Paige if you were wondering." I told Stiles and his friend Jess.

»

"Hi Derek."

I turned around looking for who said that.

"You won't be able to see me, but I know you can hear me." It sounded like Kate.

"It's Kate. I'm back from the south. We had a baby, Derek. We had a baby girl. She's beautiful. She has your eyes and my dirty blond hair. I put her up for adoption. Goodbye for now Derek."

»

"That was the last thing she'd ever said to me, up until a few years ago."

"I..." Jess started.

"What?" Stiles asks her.

"He's my dad," Jess said, pointing at me.

"You must be that child then," I said.

"Um... I have to go. I might be back later," Jess said, picking up her bag and leaving.

Jess's pov

After I left Derek's place, I hopped in my car and immediately drove back to my house. I was so mad at my parents after hearing why Derek had been following me around everywhere. My parents have been lying to me all these years. Even the times I'd ask if I'm adopted.

"Mommy, Daddy, am I adopted?" I would ask them concerned.
"Now why would you say that sweetheart?" My mom would always ask me back. Every time she would end a sentence with 'sweetheart,' she would have a certain look on her face. It's that one look where she's about to explain a math problem to me. Just like how I would ask how 4 times 2 is the same thing as 4 plus 4. I never understood that until I had my lightbulb moment, the one that my mother provided. Well, now adoptive mother I should say.

"See 4 plus 4 is the same thing as 4 times 2 because there are 2 groups of 4 in each problem. In the addition problem, 4 plus 4, there are 2 groups. 4 and 4. That is basically the same thing as as the multiplication problem, 4 times 2."

"I'm adopted aren't I," I say barging into my house. My parents reading the paper and watching the news look at me.
"Now why would you say that sweetheart?" Oh boy, that's the math problem look I wasn't hoping for.
"Mom I'm sick and I tired of that being your answer every time I ask that question. Dad, care to pitch in a bit. Every time I ask that question you go quiet. Trust me, I know I look nothing like you guys. Don't give the answer on why I don't look like you guys being, 'Oh you look just like your grandparents.' I'm sick and tired of it. Am. I. Adopted. Yes or no?"

"Yes," my dad finally says, pitching in for once.

Tears.
Crying.
Sadness, yet happiness.
Sad that after all these years they've lied to me.
Or happiness knowing they've finally told me the truth.

Apparently mixed feelings run in the family.
