Cora met back at the house and didn't say a word to each other. Not at dinner. Not even to say good night.

Tyler continued to text and call, only to be ignored by Cora. He quit the games and showed up at her door. This barely shocked Cora, letting him in to talk.

"What happened?" he asked thoughtfully.

She hesitated "Caleb called to meet up." she said which almost explained everything.

He wanted to give her a lecture, but right now he needed to give her a hug and just be her best friend.

They sat silently for an hour until he decided it was time.

"Cora-"

"I know it's not safe." she said finishing his sentence and wiping to forming tear.

"At least have someone go with you." he corrected her.

"Lydia showed up. she followed me." she sniffled holding back the sobs.

"Cora, I'm glad he's alive and safe but-"

"But he's not. He came back for help. he needed me and I left him." she said while a single tear rolled down her cheek.

"I want Caleb as safe as you do. He's a great guy, but I never will let you get hurt again for him. He doesn't deserve you." Caleb said breaking Cora's armor leading to her crying on his shoulder.

On the second day the school seemed a little smaller to Jake. He got to almost all of his classes on time. When he reached science he had his first conversation of the day.

"Do you have any fun plans for the first weekend of the school year tomorrow." Jake asked Cora as they they started their experiment.

"Well actually I think Lydia is hosting a party at our house. Once I get the details I'd love for you to come." she responded while filling the test tube with the baking soda.

"Wow, I mean I know I'm attractive but we just met and I-"Cora stopped him

"No I didn't mean it like that! I just figured you asked about it to get an invite." She began to the pour the vinegar into the bottle.

"It was a joke." He responded with a low chuckle.

"If I go it'll be to hang out with you." he said and they made eye contact for a moment before being cut off by an explosion in the tube.

"Very nice! Excellent team work." the teacher said making Cora blush and Jake awkwardly look away.

They didn't speak while they cleaned their lab table.

"Here's my number you can text me the details and stuff later if that's okay." he said handing is phone over.

She nodded and they exchanged numbers.

The bell rang and the classroom emptied.

As Cora left the room she felt an arm tap her's.

"Where are we hiding this weekend." Tyler asked

"I was actually kind of thinking about maybe actually being at the party this time." he looked at Cora oddly

"Is there a reason for that?" Tyler asked suspiciously

"I'm an 11th grader and i've only ever been to two party's in my life. To add the that, one is at my house every weekend." Cora said with her head down.

"If you want to I'm in. Just remember there's nothing wrong with not being into partying." he replied and gave her a loving tap on the arm and went to class.

Lydia passed them in the hallway on her way to English she had to get in her locker to to grab a pen. As she opened it there was a note. She guessed it was another love note and opened it carelessly.

What will everyone think when they know the truth

She threw the note away instantly scanned the hallway terrified and ran to English leaving the pen behind.

Lydia headed straight to the liquor store after school to get supplies for the party tomorrow.

The bell jingled as she walked in. "Well hello there stranger." a man behind the desk yelled and she laughed.

"Just need some drinks to get the party started." she smirked at him.

He held his pointer finger up signaling wait just a moment. she watched the back of his head as he entered the back room for a moment then returned with a box full of bottles of different types of alcohol.

"It's like you planned for me to come here." she smiled

"This box has been waiting since the last time you came here Ally."

She held up her fake I.D for the papers and handed him her card.

"So when can I get that second date I was promised." He smirked as he wiped the card and filled out the paperwork.

Lydia laughed "I didn't promise and I wouldn't count getting drunk and breaking into the pool as a date."

"Okay, maybe it wasn't a date but it was really fun." He countered with a huge grin

"Trust me Dean you don't want to. There's a lot you don't know about me. I'm basically living a double life." she said laughing at the irony.

He handed her the bags as he said "I'm willing to learn whenever al." she just smiled and left.

-------

"Your'e doing a lot of preparation for this one." Cora asks suspiciously

"It's a very special night." she responded unpacking the liquor from the bags.

"Yes it is." Cora said quietly.

"How did Dean enjoy seeing Ally today?" Cora smiled

"Don't talk about it." she responded

"You don't need to be rude." Cora countered

"It's not like I can tell him the truth now so get over it."

Cora silently began helping Lydia set up.
