Everybody dies eventually. At least that's what they say. Right? Or do they just run away. Escape from what could be eternal. I try to relive the moments to where I was happy. But after everything that happened...I don't believe in forgetting nor running away. All I can see is never forgetting your past. Truth is, the roads are dangling but your fate is uncertain. Some people believe, that your past comes back to haunt you. I'd never had to regret my past. But lately, that's the only thing I had time for. I use to be just some average brunette girl, who always followed her dreams. But now I'm more ashamed. Ashamed that I couldn't be strong enough for the both of us. Instead I just gave up on us. On beating it. I was never fit to be strong. But I'm no coward. I can win this. We can beat this.
Day one
Clouds hovering over the blue summer sky. A breeze suddenly moved the trees, swinging them back and forth. Rain drops roared across the city. Drops of rain stuck against the glass. Water never looked so beautiful, to me. The roaring whispers of thunder crackled across the blue less sky. The summer breeze was gone. Class was in session. With over one hundred students in here, I felt like I needed air, after all I was claustrophobic. I looked around the room, losing my main focus, it all felt like a review to me, anyway. It was the first time I'd ever looked around. It was only my second day at college, what could you expect from a shy girl like me? The professor would never shut up about some formula, anyway. My class was a mixed group, of different cultures, religion, skin colors, and customs. This year seemed to be like a challenge so far. After all my years of not being afraid of school, I finally Given in. I know being a marine biologist takes time and effort, but I would eventually figure things out along the way. Time to go back to my childish attitude, with 'That's tomorrow's problem'. I use to drive my poor mother insane by doing that...insane...Anyways, daydreaming about my future and my past was great, it's my only way to released my stress from my mind. The moments of beauty. The moments of happiness, they were all a lie, anyways. I knew life was too good to be true. Suddenly, the bell rung. "Class is dismissed". The professor told us. We were finally free, to make the rest of our days.
Suddenly, I heard an echo as I was leaving the room, along with the massive herd of people, but what felt like ambushing cattle. "Study for the big test, which is tomorrow. Those who past, will survive my class, along with the entire school, good luck." My eyes widened. A test? How is this possible? It's only been two days?! There must be a huge mistake. Maybe it's his old age working up on him. His wrinkles were seen across the room, he looked like a deflated ballon. He could barely stand even if he had a cane. His hair was shading off by the minute. Everyone left the room. The professor was sitting at his desk working his pen in his right hand. His glasses were slipping off his eyeballs. I knew there was no mistake, about the test. College is harder than I thought it would be. I stood there. Confused, restless, and uncertain.
Walking home. I was suddenly stopped by my roommate, Eleanor. She held a tight grip on me. Her dark skin complected off the sunlight. Her black hair was dangling from her head. Her short cut, flowered pattern dress, with those brown boots was a style to remember. I quickly grabbed her other hand. "What do you want?" I asked her without hesitation. We were standing in the middle of the school court yard. Standing with our boots in the puddle, Eleanor slipped her hand from my shoulder and into my hand. And I felt her put something into it. It felt like a piece of paper. She suddenly took her hand from mine. She walked away, rapidly. I was still confused about the test to try to make sense out of what just happened, so I just stood there...watching her walking away. Further and farther away. She suddenly turned around she held a smile across her beautiful face. Then she walked off. I stood there for another minute, but what felt to be an hour, but it was actually two minutes. I looked down at my hand. Then I let my hand out of the fist. And took the note and read it.
