The ceiling slowly came into focus, the bright light blinding Scott's sensitive eyes. He parted his lips for a mute moan and squeezed his eyes shut, feeling awfully exhausted. It made sense though; he was trapped with a serial killer for weeks. With a sigh, Scott gradually reopened his eyes and struggled to turn his head, the movement taking much more energy than it was suppose to.
A small man was standing in the corner, looking as though he was cleaning something. He was humming softly, swaying his hips to a nonexistent beat. Scott watched him, fascinated. He ignored the creeping sense of fear that was crawling up his throat. Opening his mouth again, Scott forced out a noise that somewhat resembled a cat dying.
The man froze in surprise and slowly turned around, his eyes wide with shock. Scott slowly took in the man's features. As soon as it clicked, he screamed. The mystery man, Mitch, jumped and ran out the room.
Scott continued to scream, not caring that his voice was hoarse from lack of water. He just screamed. Someone needed to save him, Mitch was going to kill him. Hands grabbed at his shoulders and pinned him down; Scott didn't realize he was thrashing until that moment. He was scared Mitch would be the one holding him down, so he just continued to scream. And scream... and scream.
Broken conversation breached his mind. Scott was only able to pick up a few simple phrases. The one that stuck out the most was "Sedate him... Mitchell... do... now."
A needle broke the fragile layer of skin and Scott immediately stopped screaming, a quiet whimper escaping. Whatever they gave him was working fast. The world slowly began to spin and the blond man was out like a light.
A few hours later, Scott woke up once again. The same white ceiling came into view and he frowned, groggily taking in the details curiously. Where was he? Scott tried to sit up, but failed, whining in frustration. He heard the door open and then listened to the soft footsteps approach his bed. Scott turned his head and looked at the unfamiliar man.
"How are you feeling, Scott?" The doctor asked gently, his dark skin soothing Scott's frantic mind. He always did love the color brown.
"Thirsty," he croaked, cringing at the sound of his voice. It sounded like he didn't talk for months.
The man nodded and briefly walked away, coming back with a small cup of water with a straw. He helped Scott drink it, taking into consideration that Scott was oddly weak. Scott gulped it down eagerly, sighing happily. The doctor placed the empty cup on a cleared cart and observed Scott quietly. "My name is Dr. Olusola." The black man added.
Scott nodded slowly. "Hi..." He mumbled watching him warily.
Dr. Olusola went on. "I know you're probably wondering where you are right now," he paused and took in Scott's reaction. "You're at Kaiser, in Los Angeles. You were brought in three months ago after a nearly fatal car accident on the way back from the local mountains. You were in a medically induced coma for a few days, but when we waned you off of the medication, you didn't wake up. Today was the only time you showed a sign of waking up and alas, you did." Dr. Olusola flashed Scott a blinding white smile.
Scott blinked in confusion. "B-but what 'bout Mitch Grassi?" He asked quietly.
"Why, he's the nurse that was in here when you woke up. He mentioned that you started screaming at the sight of him?" The doctor tilted his head.
"H-he tortured and tried to kill me." Scott whispered fearfully, his chest seizing in fear. "Don't let him hurt me, please don't let him hurt me. I picked him up and took him home and he hurt me. He hurt my friends and he wouldn't stop until I killed him. Don't let him hurt me please!" He begged.
Dr. Olusola frowned in consideration. "Scott, tell me what happened. From the beginning."
And so he did.
