Annie could not keep her eyes open anymore.
Unlike Rin, she expected someone to come to help in the dark alley, but got disappointed by each second that passed and eventually gave up.
Neither Rin nor Annie could tell how long the older woman would last. Rin was near losing consciousness, but she hung on because she knew if the guys were done with her, they would move on to Annie.
She was dripping with blood now, and there was no part in her body that did not hurt. Many of her unattended old wounds opened, and it was like she was burning at the depths of hell.
(how the hell did my writing style get so good? xD)
At last, Rin saw it coming. The last strike of the bat that was aimed right at her head. She knew that no longer how much she tried, her fragile body could take no more. So she accepted it, closing her eyes and praying that Annie would somehow make it out safe.
But the strike never hit her. She could feel the arms that hung her up loosen, until they disappeared. She tried her best to open her eyes, but she could only open them so little.
Blue.
There was something blue around. Did someone come to save them? She could feel bodies piled up on the floor with pools of blood around them. Rin could hear a voice.
Annie.
"Rin!" she shouted, but it sounded rather happy and relieved.
That's it.
Rin's legs could no longer carry the weight of her body, and she fell forwards.
But there was no impact. Again.
Instead, she felt strong arms wrap around her shoulders, and fell into someone's chest.
There was a familiar smell around this person, but Rin's brain was not in any condition to comprehend it.
"You okay?" it was a voice that was, mocking.
Yup, now Rin could definitely tell who's voice that was.
Captain :3
But Rin moved back, causing her captain to remove his tattooed arms off her shoulder.
Rin turned, and saw Annie running up to her.
Without a word, Rin was tackled into a hug. Annie was short, so she buried her face into Rin's neck, and Rin could feel Tibbers getting squashed in between them. Annie was squishing her, but Rin could no longer feel any pain. It was as if she was dragged out of hell, and was now flying endlessly.
"I WAS SO WORRIED!!!!!" Annie cried and Rin could feel her neck getting wet by tears, but she didn't mind.
Annie couldn't see it.
But the Surgeon of Death could, and he froze.
Rin was smiling, a genuine happy smile with her eyes closed.
Law's heart skipped a beat, and he didn't know what was happening to him.
Rin looked happy.
And Law didn't know why, but he felt happy from the bottom of his heart.
Even if he didn't know it, he felt true happiness after a long, long time...
MAN i can't wait for the next chap!!
Oh wait I'm writing this.
