Now you would've noticed the 'until that day' previously mentioned so now I will tell you about 'that day', the day that literally changed my life. Or we can say it introduced me to a new life,a new world that I never knew existed.
It was a normal day. I aced my maths test, Lisa Prancer called me wierd and I had to punch her nose, again, seriously, I've punched it so many times, I don't think it retains any of its previous shape . But in the eight period my maths teacher called me and told me that my father had had an accident and I have to go home immediately. Even though I was quite surprised but any reason to skip maths class was quite welcome so I made a ready-to-burst-in-tears face and went to my seat to pick up my bag. Flora, my bestfriend and the only girl who could be patient with me was seated beside my seat, she pushed up her glasses and looked up from the problem she had been solving to look at me with concern in her deep brown eyes and asked, "Where are you going? Has something happened? Is Grace ok?" Bless her, the girl was even worried about my family. I looked behind her at Russell, sitting there with his tongue out, solving problems as if his life depended on it. Everytime I looked at him, the intensity of his gorgeous ness hit me like a ton of bricks. He is a genius, a nerd but he is the most handsome nerd I've ever seen who plays football better than the actual team but never joined the team and the best part, he is taller than me, only a few people at school are taller than me and I hate being the tallest. I liked the way his dirty blonde hair flopped over his eyes when he was engrossed in something, and I loved his chocolate brown eyes, which were quite like Flora's only a bit more intense. I tried to catch his eye but his love for maths had all of his attention, never mind, I can just stand here and look at him all day. I came back to the real world when Flora elbowed me in the stomach, I looked down to see her grinning like an idiot, the worry in her eyes replaced by mischievous twinkle "Really Kaycee, I'm asking something here." Oh right! My dead father had just had an accident and I was standing here checking out a boy who was definitely not interested in me. I sighed and replied, "I have to go home, mom is acting wierd and well, I don't exactly love maths so.. I'll see you tomorrow." I picked up my bag and rushed out of the room.
As soon as I reached home I threw my bag on the floor and was taking off my socks when mom entered the room, I asked her for the reason for sending for me on such false pretences."But my dear " , she said " I just had to call for you, it was an emergency". "So couldn't you say that you had had an accident? Seriously, how can my dead father have an accident?", I asked her, while trying my best not to laugh at the pitiful face she made, she hates being told that she has done something wrong, my mother was always strict but she could be just as cute whenever she wanted "But your father really had an accident!!"she cried. "Oh really? Where? In a magical world coexisting with our world and which we know nothing about?" I shouted, trying to be sarcastic but sarcasm always bounces off my mother, "Yes" she calmly replied. I stared at her wide eyed for a few seconds then I started laughing, I mean wasn't it obvious that she was joking with me "oh yes? And now you'll tell me that we are magical creatures who have been banished from this.. this fairy land and have to live in this house until we are summoned back." I said, another failed attempt at sarcasm. "Oh my god!" , my mother shouted, loudly,"how did you know all this , I thought you didn't know anything . Oh dear, and here I was thinking I had managed to keep at least one secret."
Just then Grace entered the room with my socks and shoes in her hands and her bag still on her back, "Kaycee! How many times have I told you to keep your things in their correct places!?", she shouted. She paused then, probably realizing somethinbg was wrong, since I wasn't supposed to be home so early, her bright green eyes took in the situation, she looked at mom's face and her face went blank, she asked, "Did you tell her already?" My mom replied,"No dear, but I'm going to. It's time you both knew." What were they talking about! I looked at Grace and asked, What do you know that I don't? And how long have you known this?" She wouldn't meet my eyes but replied, "Oh, I got to know about this yesterday when you were out buying Coke for us, someone came when you were gone and well, mom used a bit of her magic to help him and I saw so she had to tell me." I looked at her blankly for a minute before looking at my mother, "Mom!", I shouted, "will you please tell me what is going on and what are you both talking about? And please don't tell me that you're the rightful Queen of fairy land and that you were betrayed by your own minister." "No dear, I'm not the queen of fairy land, as you call it. " she said looking very serious so I had to believe that she was not joking.
What was going on? I looked at Grace and her face was just as serious as mom's. The question that now remained to be answered was , have they both gone mad (I wouldn't be surprised) or is this all true?
