Peaceful. The one word you could use to describe the large area that surrounded Shard's ice castle. No people, no houses, just snow. The winter breeze passed through the window bringing a chill to the room shard was sleeping in. Everything was perfectly placed in her room with her glass bed in the centre and everything else around it.
The night sky was quite dark with a full moon high in the sky shining a light down on the snow making it glow and the twinkling stars making the sky look like it was covered in glitter.
Shard slipped out of bed and made her way to the window sill. She admired the way the sky looked when there were no storms. Just her, the stars and the moon. Once in a while a gust blew into her room making her whiskers twitch.
She would stay there for hours staring at the sky mesmerised by its beauty. She never had anything else to do since she had no friends, she would go out most of the time and explore the forests which were a couple of miles down from her castle. That's what she decided to do tonight. Shard grabbed her coat and bag from the closet and put them on. She slipped on her blue and silver boots and left for the dark forest.
The forest was a 10 minute walk from the castle. Carefully, Shard trudged through the snow. It had been snowing earlier so the snow was quiet deep. The snow crunched under her feet every time she stepped into it. Every step felt impossible to get out of the snow, it was like glue. It was silent. No noise only the crunching of snow.
In time, she got to the forest. The trees had shining icicles hanging like Christmas decorations on trees. The snow on the trees was like icing on a cake. There were 2 options of were Shard could go. Left or right. Shard new the forest very well. Every twist and turn, every corner, every inch of it. She never got lost. She would always go to her favourite clearing and hope there was a shooting star so she could make a wish.
"I wonder if I'll see a shooting star today."
She wiped the snow off a log which had been left on the ground probably by a woodcutter. They were probably the only people who came around. The log was wet but she sat on it anyway.
Hours, went by and she continued to stare at the sky.
Suddenly the silence was broken by a crunching noise in the background, as if someone was running but really really fast. A brown blur shot through the clearing blowing Shard of the log into the trees.
"Hey, who's there!" She shouted, grabbing her bag. She ran into the direction of the mysterious person. The blur came back blowing her back into the trees.
"HEY STOP!" Shard grabbed her Shurikens from her bag and got ready to throw them when the blur came back. She threw them at the blur one at a time, each time missing the mysterious being. She had never seen anyone or anything move so fast. In a blink of an eye, the it threw a punch at Shard's stomach making her bend down. Then they knocked her straight in the nose making her fly back into the snow. Before she could see they're face they ran into the shadow.
