Chapter 6

It didn’t take long for Malarie and me to spot Josh and the team. Josh whistled, and waved us over to his table. We walked over to their table with our bags slung over our shoulders.

“Hey girls!” One of them said. Josh made room for me and Malarie in between him and Stephen. I put my bag in my lap, and took out my lunch.

“So, did you like Mr. Parker?” He said, with a hint of sarcasm.

“How do you know I have him?” I asked.

“I saw you walking into his classroom.” He said, without hesitation. Stalk much? I thought.

“Oh, well since you asked, Malarie and I had a little argument with him. It cost her a detention.”

“Woah! He doesn’t just give out detentions. You must’ve done something to really piss him off. What happened?” He asked curiously.

“Long story short, we were bad-mouthing him, and he overheard. He only heard Malarie’s part though, and gave her a detention for it.”

“That sucks. Anyway, the only other classes sophomores and freshmen can have together are PE and art, what period do you have those?”

“I have PE 6th period, and art 7th period.”

“So do I." He smiles, and continues- "So we have geometry, study hall, PE, and art together!” He said, sounding truly happy.

“Cool, we’ll have plenty of time to get to know each other.” I said, trying to sound casual, when I was really jumping up and down on the inside. I had barley eaten anything, only half my sandwich, a granola bar, and my organic lemonade. I checked my iphone, and we only had five minutes until history. We talked more about random stuff, like our siblings.

“You have an older brother that goes here? What’s his name?” Josh asked me.

“Luke Williams, he’s a senior.” I responded.

“I’ve had PE with him for the past 2 years!  Wait, do you know what period he has it this year?” He asked. How could I have forgotten? I have PE with my crush, and my protective older brother. I must have blanked out, because the next thing I know, I hear-

“Hello? Earth to Phoebe?”

“Oh, ya, sorry about that. He has it with us, 6th period.” I say blankly.

“Sweet, your brother’s chill.” He said.

The bell rang, and I out my lunch back in my bag and started to get up.

“Wait Phoebe…” Josh called.

“Yes?”

“See you in PE.” He said, and then smiled.

“See you in PE.” I said, and smiled back.

Malarie and I walked side by side to history.

“So, you think he likes you back?” Malarie questioned me.

“Who said I liked him?” I said, seeing if she would buy it.

“Your face did, Phoebe. I can read you like a book.” She said, with a smirk. She was right.

“Oh…” I said, losing my expression. We walked into his classroom. It was a typical classroom with single desks in gird-format. We grabbed two seats next to each other in the 2nd row from the front. The tardy bell rang, and we shifted in our seats. We waited for what seemed like forever, and then the teacher appeared in the front of the room. I couldn’t believe what I saw.
