Chapter 10
I shake my head, clearing out all other unnecessary thoughts. Before I know it, I hear the familiar sound of Coach Wright’s whistle. I sprinted to the front, snatched a dodge ball, and ran back into the crowd as fast as I could. Deja-vu, I thought. I crouched behind others, until I was the only one left on my team. And you can guess who the only other person on the other team was. That’s right, it was Jenny. We both stood on each of our sides, swaying back and forth, shifting our weight from one leg to another, waiting for the other person to make the first move. It seemed like we were like this for an eternity, before I heard the whiz of her dodge ball coming towards me once again. But this time, I was prepared. In a matter of seconds, I jumped as high as I could, and spread my legs far apart in mid-air. The ball went right through my legs. As soon as my feet hit the ground, I took one step forward, and with all my force, chucked the ball straight at her gut. It hit her right in the stomach. I must’ve thrown it a good 70 MPH, because a small grunt escaped her lips, and she grasped her sides with her arms, and fell to the ground. I guess those three years of softball in middle school really paid off. Immediately, every student stood up from the bleachers, raising their arms, cheering. I felt like a hero. Not only did I get revenge for myself, but I probably got revenge on her for a ton of other girls that never had the guts to stand up to her like I did. Of course, my brother Luke ran to her, and kneeled down, asking her if she was okay. He picked her up and jogged to the nurse’s office. I rolled my eyes. When I checked my phone, I realized there were only fifteen minutes left of class. I walked over to the girl’s locker room, showered, and switched back into my clothes. I put my gym clothes in my bag, and slung it over my shoulder. When the bell rang, I walked to my locker with Malarie and set all of my sweaty P.E. clothes down, and sprayed some scented body mist on myself. Next, art class. This should be more interesting.
