-Static Bomb/Caitlin's POV-
"So, let me get this straight," Ghoul said sitting opposite me, "your name is Caitlin, you don't have a clue about your age, and the first thing you remember is sitting in a chair watching a TV at the BLI?" He listed, I nodded running my fingers trough my hair for what felt like the millionth time today. It really hurt me to talk about this, I had been trying to remember something for before, anything. Just to stop the pitiful looks and awkward conversations.
"Is that it?" Ghoul asked I knew he was only trying to be helpful.
"There was this one time I saw you and Party, it was like a flashback where I was in this car and you and him were standing watching me be driven off." I said, his face lifted slightly at that.
"That was just over a week ago, it's a start." He smiled, I grinned back at him. I felt like I could tell Ghoul anything and even though I'd (re)met him yesterday, I felt as if I'd known him for years. Which i suppose I technically had.
I got a bit too excited and pulled hum into a tight hug, I let go quickly realizing that Ghoul probably didn't want to hug me. "Errm sorry- I don't- eugh." I stuttered awkwardly.
"It's okay, you're like my best friend." Ghoul laughed, I felt my heart swell inside my chest. He patted my shoulder in a friendly way, but it started stinging. Hesitantly, I moved the material on my T-shirt aside a bit to see ting round hole in my shoulder all pink and fleshy. How had I not noticed this before?
"Ouch." I said and suddenly I wasn't in the diner anymore but driving at full speed along the desert hanging out the sun roof. There were netter living cars and motorbikes that Kobra, Jet and I were shooting down. Suddenly I felt a pain in my shoulder, like someone had stabbed me and was twisting the knife. He shot me!
"Son of a bitch." I heard myself say before shooting the guy in the face, next thing I know I'm sitting back in the car with Party yelling at me to not fall asleep.
As soon as it came it left and I found myself flat on my back on the diner floor, with a worried Party, Ghoul, Jet and Kobra kneeing at me sides. "Holy shit!" I exclaimed.
"Are you okay?" Party asked helping me up and over to a chair.
"I am freaking awesome!" I grinned to myself nodding in self approval, Party face-palmed himself while the others just burst out laughing at my comment.
"Wait, what did you see?" Ghoul asked, I told him about the scene that unfolded in front of me and he smiled "Again, it's recant but going further back." We high fived, Party just looked between us confused.
"What are you talking about?" He asked, i guess we might as well tell everyone now.
"I've been remembering things, little snip its of events, its when i say something or touch or do something to set it off." I explained clearly.
"Like a trigger?" Jet asked, I nodded because that was basically what it was. This seemed to make all the guys a bit happier. Did they like the other me better? We were like two different people really: static Bomb was one person and Caitlin was another. I liked being here, but the guys wanted Static back not me.
I had noticed the rest of the guys walk off apart from Party, "You okay? You zoned out." He said, searching my eyes for something.
"Yeah, I'm fine." I lied walking away and going to sit outside in the shade.
If I was back at Battery City right now, I wouldn't feel like this.
Yeah you'd be totally clueless and cut off instead.
Shut up Brain, I don't need your input.
I'm not your brain, I'm Static Bomb you moron.
What? But technically you are me so that sorta makes you my brain.
I'm a subconsciousness, I'm where you used to be.
What so we swapped places?
Yes and it is incredibly boring in here.
Wow I'm having a conversation with myself.
Oh my god, shut up.
You technically just told yourself to shut up.
I heard someone coming round the side of the diner so she shut up. Why is my life so weird? Kobra came round and sat next to me.
"We're gonna eat something, do you want some?" He asked, I nodded and stood up helping him up too, for a skinny guy he was heavy. "Don't worry, everything will work out how it's supposed to." He smiled at me, I sent him a lopsided smile back as we walked inside.
***
It was the middle of the night, I' d just woke up from the most horrible dream ever, I was panting and a layer of sweat covered me. I was all out panicking basically. The dream consisted of my strapped to a chair going through hours and hours of relentless torture, Korse was there smirking and putting me through them all trying to break me.
What only made it worse was that I knew this was a memory for me, but a reality Static had to live through, I admired her for that. She never broke, never gave up or gave in, just kept fighting.
I crawled out of bed and out into the hallway, I felt my way through the darkness. I banged my foot on something and started hopping around cursing under my breath, then i went one better and fell on my arse with a loud bang that could've woken the dead....but apparently not the killjoys. Whatever I just happy none saw my fail.
I pushed open the bedroom door and saw Party spreadeagled on his bed and Ghoul half hanging off of his. I chuckled quietly and crept over to Party's bed, I shook him to wake him.
"Party....Partyyyyy. Party!" I whined, he stirred then opened his eyes.
"Caitlin? Whats up?" He asked groggily, rubbing his eyes.
"I had a bad dream, can I sleep with you?" I asked, it didn'y sound this awkward in my head. Wow I am so stupid, of course he wouldn't say yes. I mea-
"Yeah sure." He said, well okay then. He shuffled over to make room for me, I climbed in and he threw the covers over me. "You want to tell me about it?" He asked, I was about to shake my head but when i thought about it, it was probably better to talk about what I see.
"It was me strapped to a chair, and Korse was there, he was....torturing me. Well torturing her. Don't worry she didn't tell him anything just took it, how did she do that?" I whispered my voice cracking, Party must have known what I meant because he wrapped his arms round me and hugged me close.
"It was a memory wasn't it?" He asked, I nodded then realized he couldn't see me in the dark and mumbled a yeah. "It's okay, everything will work out." he said, I know his idea of working out was Static Bomb being back and mine was that we were somehow both here.
"You promise?"
"Yeah," He chuckled, "I promise."
I closed my eyes and a tear dripped down my face, he didn't know what he was promising me. I felt Party kiss my forehead lightly and he stroked my hair. It got butterflies in my stomach but i tried to ignore them "Good night." Party whispered. I didn't reply.
Just before I drifted off to sleep again. Static's angry voice sounded in my head.
You can't fall in love with him Caitlin. Ever.
