Niall's POV
-Hey Cass, I was wondering if you were doing anything today? If not, maybe we could go hang out at the park? But we don't have to if you don't want to. I just thought it would be nice to see you again.
I hit send without rereading what I had sent to her. But then I soon realize I sound like a love struck fool that kept rambling over text. I sigh and throw my head back.
"Ugh!" I rub my eyes and forehead tiredly and then drop my arms to me sides.
Cause you were mine for the summer!....
I jump up with my phone in hand but it ends up flying out of my grip and on the floor as my ringtone blasts. I scramble to pick it up and check the caller I.D..... and it's Cassie.
Why does she always have to make the first move? She makes me look like a wimp.
"Um, hello?" I answer timidly.
"Hey Niall." A chirpy voice comes from the other line.
"Oh hey Cass! Did you get my text?" I hesitate and curse. She giggles. I swear I can feel the red on my face.
"Yes, I did. And I thought you'd be happy to know that I would love to go to the park to walk around with you." I inwardly am doing my famous kangaroo jump and fist pumping yelling "Yeah buddy!" but outside, I'm as calm as Yoda when he's meditating.
"Alright, cool. I'll come pick you up at-" I look at my watch.
"Oh you don't have to do that Niall. I can walk. Which park do you want to meet up at?" She insists.
"No, I must pick you up. I wouldn't want a pretty little lady such as yourself to get hurt on my watch."
"No it's fine, really. I can walk."
"No, Cassie. Come on I'll pick you up."
"It's fine-"
"Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease?" I say dragging the 'e' out for a good 30 seconds or so. She laughs and sighs in mock annoyance.
"Ok, ok! You got me! You can come pick me up, though I'd rather walk."
Mental memo.... She's stubborn. I like that.
"Oh well. Now just give me your address and I'll be there in a bit. I heard you're not to far from our penthouses."
"Gee. Yeah, rub it in my face that you have a penthouse. Go right ahead!" I hear her laugh. It's funny because anyone else that might've heard it would say it sounds weird, but to me, it's like music to my ears. She gave me her address and we hung up.
All I can say is I probably l will be sore and have some bruises in the morning from all the slip and sliding I did just trying to get myself to look good in below zero weather.

Cassie's POV
"I'd love to know more about you Cass." Niall said as we walked down St. James. The winter glow around it made it more beautiful that it already is. I mentally note he just called me "Cass" which I found absolutely adorable. But, I'm scared to tell him more about me. What if he thinks I'm an attention seeking, gold digging fan?
"Oh, er, me?" I hesitate. He laughs at me and nods but then frowns when he notices I'm uncomfortable.
"Cassie, I asked you because I really do want to get to know you. I'm not one to judge people. If I did, I'd be a hypocrite. Look at me! I'm judged everyday!" He exclaims. I give a soft chuckle then sigh.
"Ok." I say in a small voice. "Can we sit down for this then?" I ask hopeful.
"Of course." He says with a smile and guides me to the nearest bench. It's right ny the lake and overlooks it's frozen stature. We get ourselves situated and comfortable on the frozen, frost covered bench. I sit on one corner of the bench while Niall sits on the other. I start off by staring at the people that dumbly decided to live and skate on the ice.
"Well, my full name is Cassandra Marie Thompson. I was born on the 20th of January. As you already know, I have a little sister named Cindy and a pre-teenage brother that goes by Jerry. My parents-" my voice subconsciously cracked which I almost crapped myself for. I cleared my throat."-my parents were killed in car accident when I was younger. I was 16 at the time. Cynthia had just been born and Jerry was 10. It was a freak accident. They weren't suppose to die. I was by their side when they passed. The um," I close my eyes and breath in through my nose. Trying to block the salty liquid gathering inside of my closed eyes, wanting to leak themselves through the cracks of what was holding them back. "The semi-truck had knocked them down and off the highway. Right before it happened, their passing I mean, they looked at me and made me promise them to raise Cindy and Jerry right. To make them want to be wiling to succeed in this place we call an environment and a so called "home." I watched as they held hands with each other and bared their deaths together." I said in a some what deep voice, gradually because my throat was becoming a restricted hole. Swollen to the point that if I were to cry, I'd sound almost as if I was choking. "They died at the same time. Left this world at the same time. Abandoned their bodies at the same time..." I swallowed hard as I burned my gaze into the iced lake, practically seeing it melt before me. "After that, my Aunt and my Uncle took all of us in. I was 16 at the time so Jerry was a few years younger and Cindy was just a baby. They were worse than us being out on the streets like hood rats." I grimaced. "They abused us, but I took most of it because Jerry was just a boy. He didn't know any better and it wasn't my roof I was living under so it wasn't my say in what they could or couldn't do."
Niall had the most crushed expression. I knew I shouldn't have said anything but he wanted to know my "sob story." I continued anyway. Besides this is where everything gets better.
"But I worked my ass off just to raise some pounds. 365 days for 1,200 pounds was great for me. Especially since I was already legal, I got Hell out of that mad house and took the kids with me. I bought a flat for only 400 pounds a month and continued working to pay it off ever month after that. I fixed our lives. I brought us out of the deep dark abyss that would have been our future and gave us a better one. Jerry is in school and Cindy will start preschool next year." I finished with a small smile on my face as a single tear rolled straight off from my eye line and splashed on the grey layout underneath my feet. I turned my head up to him again as he looks at me with pity. I shake my head and sit up straight from my current arms on knees position.
"Don't give me your pity." I say a bit stern. His face changes and he sighs.
"I love that you're so independant." He softly laughs. I crack a slight smile.
"It's just how I've always been since it happened." I say. I look at him and notice the proximity between us has decreased greatly. I can feel the warmth radiating off of him. His warmth is tempting seeing the weather we're in.
"And you're stubborn." He leans in slightly. I look at his eyes but my eyes find their way down to his nose, and finally his baby pink lips. He has seem to taken an interest in my lips as well, for I notice his gaze is not on my eyes but the same thing I'm looking at when I look at him. He leans in slowly, focus still on my lips, as I watch the way he ever so graciously starts to shut his eyes and tilt his head.
I slowly start to shut my eyes as well, and our lips inevitably meet each others.
And let me just say, sparks flew.
