Chapter 4 Edward is getting on my nerves

 "Crap." Clare whispers to me from behind me. I have always protected her from everything. She's like my little sister that I never had. I tried my hardest to not get her betrothed to her mate Jet, but her father wouldn't listen to an Omega.

Tex stood there and just stared at us. I start to remember when we were little and I met him for the first time. Clare behind me, me with my ears back and him with a stupid grin on his face, but this time he wasn't grinning.

"Hello Dawn. Long time no see." He says with his familiar voice. I gulp and tuck my ears back then say, "Well now that you are the new Alpha what are you going to do with the pack, oh mighty Alpha." I add that last part with as much sarcasm as I can. I want to get on his nerves and I don't really have a complete reason why.

"Don't talk to the Alpha like that." Clare says from behind me.

"Its fine Clare. I don't know where this anger is coming from but I came to ask you a questions, but it's kind of private." He says lowering his head and glancing at Clare.

Clare got the idea and stood up. Her eye brows went up and she quickly walked around Tex. When she got behind him she looked over his shoulder and glanced at him then me and wiggled her eye brows. Then turned and walked out.

Me and Tex were alone and let me tell you it was awkward. Still with my ears back and me glaring at him even though I don't mean to be mean so I said, "What is it you wanted to talk about?"

"Oh right." He says and puts his own ears back as he blushes with embarrassment. He clears his throat and says, "How would you like to be Alpha Female of this pack?"

I stare at him in disbelief. What is it with these males and wanting me to be there mates or let alone Alpha Female? I take a deep breath then say, "I thought you already had an Alpha Female." I clenched my jaw because as much as I want to hear him say that he doesn't have one makes part of me wish that he would say that he has one. I am being really complicated.

"What no. I don't have a mate. Why would you think that?" He says almost laughing until he saw my expression.

"Well I just assume when I saw you nuzzle that fair female after you won the Alpha title and saw one of the pups look just like you I just...thought that was your mate and family and didn't want to get in the way." I say sitting up a little straighter.

"What...? HA. HA. HA!" He laughed at me which just made me sit up straighter and keep my ears back even more.

"That female? That female was my mother. And those pups were my brother Hector and my sister Luna." He says moving a little closer to me but I back away just as he moves closer.

"Well I apologize for jumping to conclusions but I have to go and do something with Clare. But I will think about your proposal." I say bowing my head and then turning to the den entrance. He follows right behind me and I trot as fast as I can to Clare's den. When I get there I run into Jet as he starts to walk out with Edward and crow. Jet may be a little bit bigger than me but when he saw who he ran into, he tucked his ears back and had fear in his dark brown eyes. I stare at him and he lowers his head and walks away. I walk into the den and see Clare walk over giggling and shaking her head.

"I love watching you do that by the way. I can't believe you can scare him that bad still even as an adult. Want to have dinner with me and Jet." She asked with pleading eyes. I nod and smile at her. She jumps around and then says, "Hey, I know you came here to ask if I can hang and the answer is yes. I really don't care if Jet gets mad at me I will get yelled at then we will go right to sleep."

"Yeah, lets go to the pond with that cute little water fall." I say as we start to walk out of the den. Before we leave we run into the boys. Crow, Jet, and Edward all stood in front of me and Clare. When Jet glared at Clare then growled a little she moved behind me and coward in front of her mate. I stood strong and when she was out of his sight and he looked up at me he stopped immediately and stepped back one step. "Smart wolves" I say out loud as I smirk at all of them when they stepped back one step.
