“Wake up” a voice whispered in my ear, I groan and shrug it off “Cameron, you have to get up now” the voice became louder “noooo” I replied sleepily and turned onto my stomach, nearly off my bed with my arms drooping off the side. “CAMERON” I fell out of bed in shock and looked up to Jeremy. “Didn’t think I was that scary” he laughed.

“What was all that about?”

“Uh, class starts in half an hour…” he said

“SHIT.” I looked at the clock and it said 10:30. 30 minutes was not long enough to get ready, for my first day of class to!!! I quickly got off the floor and ran into the bathroom, I brushed my teeth and quickly put my hair into a messy bun and ran to my closet, the tiny closet that can barely fit a sock but I also use half of Jeremy’s because he only has like one outfit and he let me use the rest of his closet space. I tried to pick out a cute outfit, although I’m pretty useless under pressure, ironic that I’m going to major in acting. I picked out my favourite shirt, grey t-shirt with the word BLACK written on it, some red skinny jeans and some lace up combat boots. I was about to walk out the door, when I realised I had no idea where I was actually going. I turned around and stood in front of the door, trying to remember where I put my timetable. I searched everywhere, under the bed, in the kitchen. I even looked in the bathroom. I couldn’t find it anywhere, and then I remembered it was in my shoulder bag that I couldn’t find because it was hanging off my shoulder, I quickly checked the time 10:57, great I’m going to be late on my first day of class. I sprinted out the door and followed the map on my timetable.

I got to the building and tried as hard as I could to walk in without being noticed. But as soon as I opened the door “Ms Baxton is it?” a man’s voice called and looked up at me.

“Yes sir” I said sitting in the nearest seat. The seats were arranged in a circle. I put my shoulder bag under the chair and looked up, and there sitting straight ahead of me, was none other, than Jeremy Shada. To think I now have to deal with him as classmate, as well as a roommate. He winked at me and looked over at the teacher who was standing in the middle of the circle. He wasn’t very tall, and talked quite calmly. “My name is Mr Taylor and in my class we don’t text” he turned around to a guy who was sitting on his phone and slowly realised that Mr Taylor was holding his hand out in front of him, he passed the phone over unwillingly. “Alright, back on topic my name is Mr Taylor and I will be your teacher this year. I know that acting can be scary for some people, but if you are not confident with your acting then you probably shouldn’t have chosen this subject for your major.” That got a few soft laughs from the class. “Now I have decided that you will work in pairs, this is because I feel you 1) can’t act by yourself and 2) to be honest I don’t like groups of three or over, in my years I’ve noticed them not to work as well as pairs. You’ll have the same partner for some time, so if you hate each other deal with it. I have already paired you up. This was all based on experience and ability. And don’t worry all of you have talent, if you didn’t you wouldn’t be here today.” He went on for a bit after about the things we were going to do this year, which was surprisingly acting. Then he started telling us who we were paired with, I was in the tenth pair announced “Cameron Baxton and Jeremy Shada” my eyes shot at Jeremy and glared at him and he laughed and walked over to me “I guess we’re going to have to be friends”

“I’m happy acting” I replied back

“Someone’s getting sassy” he smirked

“Ok, I’m going to hand out relationships, you will have to work with these relationships for the time you work together, you will be given different scenarios but they will all have to have this relationship.” Mr Taylor said walking around handing out small slips of paper to all the pairs. He came over to us and handed Jeremy a slip of paper, Jeremy burst into laughter “you’re gonna enjoy this” he said and handed me the slip of paper that read in big bold letters:

FRIENDS, ONE WITH LOVE INTEREST.

You have got to be kidding me, of course we would get this, out of everyone in the class we couldn’t have gotten, the people that hated each other. “Well you’re having the love interest.” I sighed looking up at him

“Deal” he replied quickly. Too quickly for my liking.

“Alright now for your scenarios, you don’t get to see them, or rehearse them in my class we only improvise” he said pulling out a jar full of more paper slips. He took the lid off and called up the pairs one by one, they picked out their scenes and performed them all off the top of their heads. We were about the last ones to go. “Do you want to pick” Jeremy asked, I shook my head, I have the worst luck. When Jeremy gave me the slip it said:

PERSON A WANTS PERSON B TO GET OUT THERE.

“I’ll be person A, let me start” I said, Jeremy nodded and we stepped inside the circle.

“Why do you do this?” I turned and gave Jeremy a curious look

“Do what?” He asked

“This, you complain that you don’t have experience but you never do anything”

“Well what do you want me to do? Jump off a bridge? Skydive? Experiences aren’t as easy as they look you know”

“And then you do this.”

“What? What have I done this time?” he stepped closer to me

“You tell me that uncommon things are difficult experiences, no shit skydiving is difficult but you and I both know that’s not what I’m talking about.”

“Then what do you want me to do, tell me, I’ll do anything”

I took a shallow breath “I don’t know what I want you to do, but I just don’t want you to act like this” I turned away from him.

“Hey, I’m sorry” he said grabbing my hand “what can I do that will make you happy?”

“That’s the thing, YOUR experiences aren’t meant to make ME happy.” I raised my voice a little

“Then what am I supposed to do?” Jeremy yelled

“I don’t know, but just do something, something that will make YOU happy, don’t worry about anyone else. It’s your life and you need to live it” I turned around and stared into his eyes.

Then Jeremy grabbed my waist and pulled into a kiss, a kiss that lasted a very long time, a kiss that I really enjoyed. When the kiss stopped, I looked into his eyes, those deep blue eyes with the small specks of brown and said “well, that was, that was um,”

“Something?” he grinned, we froze after that, in that tight embrace of his hands on my waist and my hands on his neck, meaning the end of our performance. The audience applauded and Mr Taylor stood up and said “well done, that was magnificent, see this is what you all need to learn, don’t hold back when you’re acting. Just let your soul take over.”

That night when Jeremy and I had gotten into bed and he had switched off the light I asked “So, did you let your soul take over or was that just acting?”

“Well, it’s never happened before, I’ve never done something like that, so I guess my soul took over.”
