Dear Diary,

Mother gave you to me earlier and said that I need to 'Have an outlet to pour your emotion into instead of throwing tantrums." So I'll give it a shot.

My name is Nicole Windsor. Daughter of William and Catherine Windsor, the King and Queen of England. That means I'm a princess. If that wasn't weird enough, just imagine this, I'm a vampire too. Not just any old vampire. A vampire princess.

I've known that for most of my life but only today on the eve of my eighteenth birthday did my powers start to manifest. I guess that's why Mother gave me you. I've always been emotional but they probably don't want to deal with a vampire temper tantrum.

Let me explain. It all started when- Oh fiddlesticks, Father's calling me to 'do my princessly duty' again. I'll be back later.

Love,

Nicole.

"Coming Father!" I yell shoving the black, leather bound diary and pen in a drawer. I am about to run downstairs to see what he wanted when I catch sight of myself in the mirror.

My thick light brown hair is in disarray and I look too pale for it to be natural. The light pink sundress that Mother had forced me to put on this morning is wrinkled and my eyes have bags under them.

I thought vampires were supposed to look perfect all the time. I sigh and go into my bathroom to tidy myself. I stand in front of the full length mirror and gaze at my new skin. It is a sickly pale and I blend in with the white tiled walls. I splash water on my face, put on my best smile and walk outside. It's time to face the family.

Everything looks, sounds and smells so much different as I walk down the hallway. It is so much sharper. I can see the individual threads in the ancient red rug and hear horse hooves thundering on the ground as someone rode on the track. I can even smell the chicken that had just been put in the fire, apparently vampires needed food just as much as regular humans.

I walk through the large double doors leading into the library where the rest of my family is waiting. Mother and Father are sitting together in the sofa with Grandmother and Grandfather sitting across from them. The coffee table in between them is covered in papers and there are six steaming teacups there as well.

"Good afternoon," I say with a sickly sweet smile. I see Grandmother narrow her eyes as she takes on my jeans and Team Jacob T-shirt. I should have thought that through more. I keep a smile plastered on as I make my way to the sofa to sit with my parents. "Are we waiting on someone?" I ask glancing at the extra cup.

"Yes," Grandfather says. "Harry is coming to visit. He should be here soon." As if summoned Uncle Harry burst through the door.

"Speak of the devil," I mutter.

"Sorry I'm late. And I heard that, Cole," he says settling in the only available chair right underneath a portrait of Queen Elizabeth the first. It's one of the many paintings of my ancestors that lined the room. Every space that isn't occupied by a bookshelf or window has some piece of artwork. Mother had them put there when she became queen to 'liven up the room.'

"Now that everyone is here," Father begins, "we can start planning."

"What is thee to plan?" I ask. "Everything has been taken care if for months. The party will go off without a hitch."

"We're no talking about the party," Mother says. "This is about your initiation. It's set for the next new moon."

"What!" I didn't expecting anything to happen this soon. "But-"

"No buts, young lady," Grandmother says sternly. "This is an honor many would die for. You should appreciate it. One day you will be Queen and know what we're talking about."

"I just Manifested. It can't be this soon," I say panicking. I'm not ready to become a full vampire yet. Once that happens there's no turning back.

"It would be sooner," Father says, "but we have the party to worry about and really the new moon is an excel ant time to have your initiation."

"It's not that bad," Uncle Harry tells me. "all you have to do is say a few things and drink a little." I feel nautious at the mere thought. I drank animal blood already and I would be perfectly happy to live on that. Taking an animals life is bad enough but what I have to do for the initiation is unspeakable.
