Sooo... somewhere between my notes and here, this chapter was lost to the ages. Why did nobody point out that my story made no sense? One minute they're cuddling all fluffy and adorable on the couch, the next they're being attacked by an archangel in a fricking alleyway.

We decide to go out for dinner since neither of us wants to cook, though I'm sure anything he makes would be - wait for it - heavenly.

We leave his house and take his car downtown, figuring we'll just walk around until we find something we'd like. We leave the car next to mine outside the little bar where we'd met. We walk up and down the streets, window shopping (a concept that was impossible to explain to Mark) and browsing through the restaurants. We duck in and out of a sculpture in the center of the city, and work our way back into the crowds.

Eventually we find ourselves in an unfamiliar part of the city. I have just opened my mouth to suggest that we turn around when Mark wraps his cold fingers around my wrist. "Seán. Turn around and walk back to your car." His voice is laced with . "Why?" I question. "Just please, go now. I do not want you to be here when -" I am blinded by a flash of , and Mark moves, blurring out of my vision.

I yelp as I am slammed against something hard, sending a jolt of pain up my spine. spots out of my vision, and as my eyes , I see Mark's grey wings spread in front of me in a clearly defensive position. He has me pinned against a wall, his back to me, arms wide, forming a barrier around me. There is a low growling coming from somewhere deep in his chest, and maybe it's the light, but I swear his wings are darker.

I press a hand to his back, to the spot between his wings, and he relaxes a bit, but not enough to his position. "Mark? What's wrong?" I ask. "Shh," he responds. "I wish we had eaten dinner at home tonight," he grumbles after a second.

A man steps out from around the corner, and Mark straightens, though his body still curls towards me.

"Hello, Gabriel," he says disgustedly.
