The Vampire Princess and the Werewolf Prince (#1 of the Royalty Bites series)

Chapter 27: Memories

I watch as people come into the yard from the sides of the house and a few from the house itself. I stay with Anna as I feel safest there, I'm talking with a couple people when I feel a gaze on me that makes my senses hyper aware of it. I look up and my gaze meets an icy blue one, he starts to come over towards me as I look him over. I take in his well built frame and his black shaggy hair before I realize that I've excused myself and am walking forwards to meet him. 

"Hi I'm Autumn." I smile shyly when we get close enough.

"I'm Jack, would you care to dance?" he holds out his hand and gestures to the dance floor.

I smile and take him up on his offer, before the second song started I was reeling from dizziness blackness playing with my vision.  Jack notices and catches me before I fall as I black out slightly, I feel him carry me to the closest chair and set me down there but I couldn't open my eyes, move or respond for the life of me. 

"Autumn wake up! Come on wake up Batty." Jack whimpers softly.

As soon as I hear him say Batty memories come flooding in.

"Angel! Autumn! Time for dinner! Go wash up!" A beautiful blond haired woman calls from the kitchen.

A younger me runs through the house to the bathroom closest to the kitchen, beating a young Angel. We are sitting at the table but there is an extra place set and the woman, my mother, keeps looking at the door expectantly. We eat and the door flys open and a man with dark hair like mine swoops into the room making Angel and I jump up and run towards him. I'm lifted into the air and then thrown a couple feet up making me giggle.

"Again daddy! Again!"

"I want a turn Dad!" Angel pouts.

"Alright Princess then Angel gets a turn and you go finish your dinner." my dad looks me in the eyes until I nod then he throws me in the air again.

The memory stops there and a more wild side of me steps forward in my mind.

That's right Autumn you're Queen of the vampires.

I watch as the wild me steps forward and we merge into one, then another memory hits me.

"Autumn please give me a chance!" a younger Jack begs me.

"Why should I?" I raise an eyebrow putting my hands on my hips.

The memory skips forward but shows me everything like a collage. 

I wake up with a gasp my eyes flying open, the first thing I see is the worry in Jack's eyes then relief when he sees that I am ok.

"Jack...."

"Autumn I can explain..."

I shut him up with a kiss, I feel him tense in surprise then I feel him relax and he pulls me against him kissing me happily. I break the kiss and look at him smiling.

"I remember."

"Everything?"

"Absolutely everything husband."

"Oh I am so happy to hear that! I was afraid that I was going to have to take you back to the castle like that! Your brother, let alone the council, would kill me!" 

"It's fine I remember now." I stand up and look at Anna and wave her over.

"Yes Autumn?" she asks bustling over.

"Anna I remember who I am now. I'm the Queen of Vampires and mate and wife to this man here." I smile placing my hand on Jack's arm as he stands up.

Anna's eyes widen and she falls to her knees, "Your majesty I had no idea!"

"Neither did I until I heard Jack here say Batty, that seemed to be the key word to make it all come flooding back." I smile at Anna as I bend down and take her arm  helping her raise to her feet.

"Don't make a scene I'm sure Autumn and I would like to just enjoy this party rather than be bothered all night. In other words just treat us how you are treating your other guests." Jack smiles and Anna nods then scurries off.

"I don't think that we are going to be left alone tonight." I say watching  her go straight to her husband and start chattering to him.

Sure enough I see her point at us and her husband looks then frowns and looks back at her talking. I walk over and listen to her telling him that I'm the Queen and my eyes narrow.

"Yes and when the Queen's husband, otherwise known as the king, asks you to keep  secret you keep it. Don't worry Jason we are not here for any reason other than the plane went down, due to I suspect a try for my life." I smile reassuringly at Jason but watch Anna coldly.

Anna falls to her knees begging, "I am sorry my queen! I thought it would be alright if my husband would know this secret as well! Please don't be mad with me."

"Get up Anna. I am not going to do anything I just want you to know that next time the appropriate thing to do is pull him aside and not tell everyone within hearing range." I watch her get up then bow.

Jack comes up beside me and looks at them with a smile, "Do you happen to have a phone we can call her brother with?"

Jason nods and leads us to his study, "You can use this phone it is used for out of country calls."

I say my thanks then sit down and dial the number to get to Angel directly, he picks up on the second ring.

"Hello?"

"Angel?"

"Autumn! You're alive! I heard your plane went down and there was no evidence that you survived nor was there any you had died! I was so hoping that you weren't dead, I mean I could feel you were still alive due to our bond. But I was worried!" he babbles.

"Angel I need you to find a way to pick us up. Trace this call and then send someone to come get us."

"Oh we trace every call since you disappeared. Ok I've got someone heading your way, my advice for the night is find a bed and go to sleep they will be there to get you in the morning."

"Alright brother I'll see you soon." 

"Come home safe sister."

We hang up the phone and I look at Jack and he smiles, "Got a ride home now? Remind me to thank him when we get home."

I nod then yawn and stand up, Jason agrees to let us stay another night and I lead Jack into the room I had been staying in. I curl up on the bed and pass out before I can get changed.
