-TRIGGER WARNING- Mentions of a family member's death!!
Your mother had passed early last month. Just as you were making Spencer breakfast, when your phone went off. You sighed, placing the pan down and turning to your phone. 'Marie'
Your sister was calling you. You two hadn't spoken in years, despite your mother's pleas. Marie had disapproved of your job and partner choice, you both said some horrible things, you two hadn't talked since.
You felt your heart thump as you answered the call. Marie was a stubborn girl, she wouldn't just call you out of nowhere, unless something was wrong. "Hello?" you said. Spencer walked in and sat down, realising you were on the phone. You put the phone on speaker and on the side, whilst you continued to make breakfast.
"Hello Y/N." Marie sniffed. She'd been crying. Your older sister instincts kicked in and you asked her what was wrong. "Marie! You sound like you've been crying. What's wrong?" you asked.
You placed bacon and eggs on your plate and Spencer's and you then turned off the oven, placing the pan in the sink."Y/N." she cried. "It's Mum."
Immediately, panic set in and you stood up abruptly. "What's wrong with her?" you asked.
"Is she okay?" you grabbed the phone and rushed in your room, to get dressed. You had to get there quick. Spencer sighed, getting up and following you. He had guessed what happened, he knew how you'd react. "No.." Marie cried, taking a few breaths to control herself. "She passed in her sleep."You froze. You dropped the phone, causing the battery to fall out and for the call to cut off. Spencer rushed in, grabbing you and pulling you into a hug. You began to cry. You never said goodbye. She'd never know that you forgave Marie, all she wanted was for you two to make up. She will never get to see it.
And now, we skip to now. You were a mess, you rarely left your house. You hadn't even put the battery back in your phone. Spencer urged you two leave the house, but with his busy job, it was hard for him to see you. To make sure you were okay. You two were drifting far apart. Spencer knew, being the smart guy he was, that grief effects different people differently, and that it was going to take time. He knew all of this, he also knew facts about how to get over things easily, and quickly. But every time he'd try, you'd lash out at him. Finally, Spencer lost it. He asked his team for help. His team treated you like a member of the family, you appreciated it. However, they were profilers, and they always knew how you felt. Sometimes, it was nice. Sometimes, it was irritating. "I am going to get Emily." Spencer said as he grabbed his phone.
"No, please." You said. "I don't want to worry her." But he ignored you, grabbing his coat anyway. "Please Spence." you begged.
"No, Y/N." he said. "I am going, and that is final. I want my Y/N back!" he shouted. You said nothing, watching him put his shoes on. You felt so angry. You knew he cared, but you really didn't want this. "If you do this, I'll never speak to you again."Spencer looked at you, saddened. He got up anyway, doing up his coat.
"If you go." you began. "I won't be here when you get back."
Spencer approached you, kissing your head and leaving. You fell to the floor, and cried.
The next morning, you sat on the couch, watching old family tapes for the fifteenth time this week. There was a knock at the door, and Spencer sprung up to get it. You narrowed your eyes to the door to see the whole team enter, with sad looks upon their faces. You knew.
You let out a sigh and looked back at the TV. You were watching the tape from your 14th Birthday. You chuckled lightly at the cake being thrown in your face by your sister, Marie. You turned your eyes back to the team. You looked a mess. Your hair was tangled, eyes red from crying and you were in a dressing gown. "I'm sorry." you sighed.
"For what?" asked Emily, sitting beside you.
"I look a mess."
"It doesn't matter. Come here." Emily sighed, pulling you into a hug. Emily was the connection you and Spencer had. You and Emily had been friends for years, and she was the one who introduced you to Spencer. Emily had met your mother, plenty of times. So, you knew she'd have been upset about it too.
"You must grieve . Of course." Emily smiled, holding back tears. "But you mustn't do it alone."
This statement caused you to cry. You had been pushing Spencer away, eating at different times, sleeping at different times, even going out at different times just to avoid him. You felt immensely bad.
You got up and walked over to Spencer.
"Come on guys, let's clear the room." David smiled.
"Come outside when you are done." JJ smiled, gesturing for the team to follow, shutting the door behind them."I'm sorry." you said, as tears fell. "I shouldn't have treated you like that. I didn't mean anything I said. I'm sorry." you cried.
"I love you." Spencer smiled, wiping your tears.
"I love you." you smiled back, kissing his cheek.
"Let's get ready." he smiled.
"For what?" you raised your eyebrows.
"A surprise. The team awaits." he smirked.
