As I walked down the hall I saw my friends waiting and talking at my locker. I walked up to my locker smiling as I turned the knob putting in my combination.
"Please tell Jason he likes Piper!" Demanded Thalia fiercely, looking pointedly at Jason. For the first time I noticed Piper wasn't here.
"Piper's not here?" I asked cluelessly.
"Wow you can be so oblivious sometimes!" Thalia said whilst rolling her eyes.
"Whatever, I don't like Piper like that!" Jason complained, blushing slightly giving himself away.
"Oh, you totally like her like that, and you can't argue." She said whilst smirking at something behind Jason.
"Why-"
"Hey guys! What's up?" Piper greeted suddenly walking up. Jason immediately blushed deeper, causing Thalia and I to hold in immense amounts of laughter.
"Hey Piper, where've you been?" I questioned.
"I finally got my braces off! I'm so happy it sucked having braces in high school!" She beamed a clean, radiant smile. Jeez, Jason looked like he was going to faint!
"There's a new girl!" I say hurriedly, trying to get her to stop smiling so big.
"Really?" Hazel, who was right next to me, asked thoughtfully.
"What's her name?" Piper questioned, but my attempt to calm her down failed, thankfully Jason had calmed down some. Piper was bouncing up and down, she loved meeting new people.
I just shrugged.
"Ughh!" She groaned disappointed.
"Come on let's go before they run out of food." Joked Hazel.
We walked down the crowded hallway towards lunch as the crowd parted before us like the Red Sea. We barely noticed as we made our way to the cafeteria.
We came up to our usual table and our other friends (Leo, Calypso, Katie, Travis and Conner, Reyna, Rachel, Nico, Will, and Frank) greeted us. Suffice to say it was a pretty crowded table.
"Ugh!" Complained Katie as we scooted into the table with our lunches.
I sat next to Rachel and pecked her cheek. She had a slightly melancholic expression on her face.
"What's wrong?" I asked slightly afraid. She snapped out of her thoughts and looked at me like she just saw me.
"What!Oh...yeah I'm fine." She said pulling a smile on like a scratchy sweater. I frowned but started eating my lunch anyways.
Our group was talking about the Christmas dance, the official name is the Icicle Ball but no one liked or cared about the name so we call it "the Christmas dance".
"So Rachel, we still on for tonight?" I asked after pulling out of my thoughts, probably interrupting the conversation a bit.
"Yeah." She said looking a little scared, but I let it pass.
Suddenly all conversations in the cafeteria stopped. All my friend looked at something behind me.
I turned around to see a girl with beautiful blond curls tied into a ponytail, thick eyelashes, and gorgeous stormy gray eyes. She was just wearing an oversized purple sweatshirt, skinny jeans, and converse but everybody watched her as she walked in looking for a seat. I recognized her as the new girl from my Social Studies class.
To my surprise Calypso waved her over.
"Annabeth! Over here." Annabeth, supposedly the girl's name, looked relieved when she saw Calypso and immediately started to walk to our table. As she walked the whole cafeteria suddenly broke out in whispers. After all being invited to sit at the popular table, especially if you were new, was a rarity.
Annabeth walked over and scooted on the end of the table next to Conner. I felt a small painful flare of emotions in my chest, but I just pushed it aside.
"Guys this is Annabeth. Annabeth this is Leo my boyfriend, Conner, Travis, Katie Travis' girlfriend, Reyna, Nico, Will Nico's boyfriend, Rachel, Percy Rachel's boyfriend, Frank, and Hazel Frank's girlfriend." She somehow managed to say all in one breath.
"Calypso and I are in the same math class." Annabeth explained shyly. Then she spotted me and blushed, probably remembering what she said to me.
"So what book are you reading?" I asked breaking the awkward silence between us. Her eyes lit up almost immediately, brightening the whole room.
"Oh, it's really good! It takes place in the 1940's during World War II and it's about a little girl in Germany." She proclaimed excitedly. Nico sighed happily.
"I love the 1940's, such an interesting time period." He said smiling.
We talked for a while and it turns out Annabeth is pretty cool. Once she got over her shyness she told us about herself. She likes architecture and reading. She got into Goode with an academic scholarship, and gets strait A's.
We talked all through lunch as our group got to know her. But when the bell rang all I could think about was that Annabeth never told me the title of her book.

Dear whoever is nice enough to read this,
I'm so sorry I updated a day late (I will be updating weekly) first I accidentally threw away the chapter because I wrote it on sticky notes stupidly. Then since the chapter took so long to type up yesterday I fell asleep in the middle of typing it. So I'm sorry again but the chapter is extra long so hopefully that makes up for it! And can anyone guess the book she's reading?

DISCLAIMER: though I wish there's no way in hell I own the characters in this book. But I do own the story line so ha!
