Hiccup always hated commoners who would trespass into his castle and usually it wouldn't end good. But now a girl and not any girl but a beautiful girl was standing in front of him. Offering herself in place of her family. He thought for a second but ignored the girl's pleads. He was about to leave when he heard her say; "Take me instead"

Hiccup turned around and saw the girl standing tall in the shadows and only a light shining down at her. He saw her desperate look her her blue eyes.

"YOU-" but then Hiccup realized one thing is that she was a girl... and maybe just maybe... he was getting or might have a second chance.

"You would take his place!?" He growled from the shadows walking around the girl.

Merida soon became skeptical about the idea but she wouldn't back down now.
" Yes I would but only if you promised to let my father and brothers go!" Merida made her voice firm and strong.

" MERIDA! What are you doing! Don't do it!!"Fergus then started to pull on the bars trying to get out before his daughter made a ridiculous decision.

Hiccup considered and decided to go with it,
" I will...you have my word but you MUST promise to stay here forever and not break it, like I won't break mine..." he growled as he kept circling the ginger head.

Merida was caught from what this person was saying, would she really never get to see her family ever again? Was this her fate instead? At this pointed she was confused by it all. She didn't know what to do. She then heard growling from the shadows and she realized she hasn't seen this person yet.

"Who are you? Come out where I can see you..." Merida said as she looked around but suddenly she froze as she felt something behind her and she slowly turned around and saw something she could not believe. Her eyes widened at the sight of a black dragon staring back at her. The dragon glared at her and retrieved back into the shadows only it's green eyes showing in the shadows. Merida was shocked and didn't know what to say and didn't even know if this all was a dream now.

" MERIDA! Don't do it, you don't know what your doing! just go and don't worry we will soon find a way, just don't do it...Merida, please listen,dear!!" Fergus pleaded for his daughter's chance for freedom, he didn't want her staying in some place with this monster, he wouldn't have any of that. He and his boys were men, they would soon find some way out but for her daughter to stay here in order for them be free, he will NOT have that. Merida ignored her father's voice, she was troubled by the sight she just saw, a dragon! She wanted take back everything she just had said and leave but her family was at hand she couldn't show no doubt in her decision.

She walked in front of the monster's green eyes were she could see him in the darkness and looked at him straight in the eyes; " You have my word...." Merida said in a regal voice, a voice she saw her mother use when talking to the council, a voice of power and strength.

"Very well.." Soon the creature passed Merida and went to where Fergus and the boys were and forcefully took them out. Fergus quickly rushed to his daughter, " Merida dear, No, you can't do this, I'll be back! I promise!"

"NO! I DO NOT WANT YOU COMING BACK FOR ME! THIS IS MY DECISION! THIS WHAT I DESVER!" Merida looked at her father's eyes and she showed no hint of regret and looked convinced for her decision. Fergus looked at her daughter about to say something when claws caught in his shirt and he found himself being dragged away, the boys being clawed also by the other foot of the beast.
