I made my way passed the other people that were in a rush to get to where they were going, which was most likely work or school. I was on my lunch break when I remembered that I promised Harry I’d buy him lunch. I stopped at a small cafe on my way to his gallery and got us both something for lunch. As I stopped in front of the metal door to his gallery I had a mini heart attack; what if he wasn’t even here? I took a deep breath and pushed open the large door.

“Hey” I squeaked. I felt a wave of relief wash over me when I saw him in the room, but it was soon replaced by embarrassment. He was standing in the middle of the place, seeming to just recover from a laughing fit with his guest. She was a slim woman; tall with soft features. Her hair was in an unruly bun and her apron was ridden with paint; something that would probably look bad on anyone else, but simply added to her artsy look.

“Ellie” he smiled, looking away from his guest.

“Hello. I-I bought you lunch” I looked down to my only comfortable pair of heels.

“Perfect! I was just going to get something” I felt him nearing me. He took the brown bags from my hand and turned back to the other woman in the room.

“I’ll be on my way.” I mumbled. Just as I was about to turn, he caught my shoulder halting me.

“You aren’t staying?” his brows drew together.

“No, it’s okay. You’re busy, I have to go back to work; its fine.” I gave him a small smile.

He looked back at the other woman, “We’ll be in the back if you need anything.” she nodded back at him and left the place.

“Really, it’s fine” I protested.

“I’m not taking no for an answer.” He pulled me to another room in the back; his office I assume, considering the large desk and computer in there.

He pushed away the papers on his desk to one side, setting the bag of food in the middle. “Sit” he ordered.

I sat in the smaller chair across his desk, and surprisingly he took the one next to it. “Let’s see what we’ve got; turkey club with some fries..” he pulled the contents out of the bag, placing them on the desk. Connor would have a fit if any food got on his desk. “My favorite, how’d you know?” he grinned at me.

“Lucky guess” I managed to smile back; I felt weird in his presence, he always wanted my input.

He handed me one half of the sandwich and put the container of fries between us. “It’s alright, I’ll eat when I get home”

“You bought all this wonderful food, you deserve some.” he took a bite.

“I bought it because you gave me a ride home and gave me one of your pieces for free.” He just continued to smile at me as he chewed the turkey club.

“How’s the planning going?” he changed the subject

“Fine, there’s still a lot more to do.” I sighed, picking up a fry, leaning my elbows on the cherry wood desk.

“Sorry, let’s talk about something else.” he lightly pulled my hands away from my face, letting them rest in his. “What do you wanna talk about?” he leaned his whole body towards me.

“Tell me something about yourself.” I pulled my arms to cross underneath my head to lay it on the desk.

“Well, I’m from England” he mirrored my position, inches away from me.

“Really? I had no idea.” I rolled my eyes, receiving a roar of laughter from him.

“Sarcasm; never gets old.” his leg slightly brushed against mine.

*Harry’s POV*

We stayed like this for a couple hours, going back and forth with questions. I got to know the things I’ve been asking myself for days now. Her favorite color is blue, which was weird because I took her for a more of a green person; she said she also never liked her brown hair or eyes, wishing she didn’t look like everybody else and stood out. But I didn’t think she looked like everybody else; her eyes held more gold tones than any brown eyes I’ve seen before and her long brown hair reminded me of silk as it seemed to shimmer even in the poorly lit room.

Whenever I brought up work, she began nibbling on her upper lip; maybe she does that when she’s anxious. I admired the way her full attention was given to me as I spoke; nothing else was relevant and it made me feel worthy of her time. I truly admired that. Just as she was finishing telling me a story of her old dog, Beasley, a phone rang.

“Oh, that’s me.” She quickly reached in her coat pocket, answering the phone.

“Connor?” she sounded surprised that whoever this Connor guy is was calling her. “What’s wrong?” she stood up and I did the same, already buttoning her coat. “I was talking to the owner, we were discussing the anniversary.” she scrambled for an answer; biting her lip as she did before. “Okay, I’m sorry” she apologized before hanging up. She was flushed, putting all the half eaten food back into the bag.

“What happened?” I really hoped she didn’t have to leave.

“I forgot to tell Connor about coming here, he was worried and called my father and now both of them have been going crazy.” she was rushing to get everything cleaned up.

“Who’s Connor?” I asked.

“My boyfriend.” she rolled up the bag in her hands and picked up her purse. The crushing fact laid on me; of course she had a boyfriend.

“I have to go, I’m so sorry.” she looked up at me; I hope she felt just as disappointed about her departure.

“Don’t apologize, it’s fine. Come on, I’ll give you a ride.” she gave me a thankful smile and followed me out the building.
