dear reader, what comes to mind when you think of today's youth? in a world that now revolves around the use of technology, it may seem more interesting to focus our attention on things that entertain us.
maybe reality tv stars like kylie jenner, or drama between celebrities in the music industry are of more interest to you than the social and political issues we see in the news. of course, there's nothing wrong with catching up on celebrity gossip on our free time. as young people, our lives are filled with hope and wonder for the future. we catch glimpses of the lives of celebrities and our favourite influencers on social media, and in some ways, we live vicariously through them. it's nice to read about your favourite people when all you hear and read about in the news are shootings and bomb threats, isn't it?
but should we be ignorant to issues that face people around the world? there are the sayings, "ignorance is bliss," or "the less you know the better," but should we apply these morals to everything? you, dear reader, may agree or you may disagree.
all i want to do here is shine some light on issues i believe we should be focusing on.
i am not an expert. i don't have a degree in social justice or politcal sciences. i just have a love for awareness not only within ourselves, but for the world around us.
i hope you enjoy.
