(Author's Note: I hate starting all of my updated with an apology for the late update, but in the last few months my schedule has been thrown off. First, my laptop decided to give me problems and it took 3 weeks to fix. After that, I was sick and then there were the holidays! And to be honest, I had lost all inspiration to write this story. I have it all so well thought out, and yet it isn't translating well into paper.  Anyways, enjoy this update and thank you for your patience!)

"She's finally woken up!" April's mom said to Luke as he approached the hospital room he had been visiting constantly for the past two weeks.

As the days passed, it was getting harder and harder to be there and see her motionless body lay there. The girl that had once been so full of life and loved getting the last word now couldn't say anything. He never thought that hearing them say those four words would ease his worries, but they did.

"When? Why didn't you call me?" he asked her, hurrying to her side so they could look into her room through the glass.

A nurse was examining her. Her eyebrows furrowed and eyes vacant, as they looked at Sheryl, the nurse, as she asked a question.

"It happened this morning. Doctors have been in and out since it happened; I didn't want you to rush here. If something happened to you she would never forgive me," she said, her voice breaking as she squeezed Luke's hand.

"The truth is she would never forgive me if you don't eat something. Go down to the cafeteria. I won't leave her side until you come back," he assured her. April's mom nodded and with one more adoring look towards her daughter she was on her way, phone in hand to let her husband know April was alright.

Luke's eyes wandered back into those four white walls that had become his home for the past two weeks. When his plane had landed he had rushed to the hospital without haven gotten any sleep. The guys had thought he was insane. Even his mother, Liz, had to come to the hospital to see him.

It was then that he had discovered that April had been placed into a medically induce coma in order to protect her brain. There had been no other driver involved in the accident, and the doctors could only assume she had fallen asleep on the wheel and driven over the bridge and into the water.

Luke had another theory; one that hurt him to think about. April had driven off the bridge on purpose. It was the only logical explanation his brain could come up with since they had argued just hours before.

The argument had ignited when he had told her that their manager had just confirmed that they would be extending the tour a few more weeks. April hadn't been thrilled about that. He was convinced the accident was the way to bring him back home. To make him prove to her that she was the most important thing in his life. And in a way it had worked. Him and the guys had dropped everything to be there, and he hadn't left her side since.

"Is it okay if I come in?" Luke asked as he knocked on the doorframe. Like every other day for the past two weeks he was holding sweet pea flowers for her. They were her favorite flowers. He tended to get them for her in every occasion, especially when he had something to apologize for.

"Of course, we are just about done here," Sheryl said. She closed up the chart she had been writing into and walked past him out of the room.

Luke smiled as he walked to the side of her bed and set down the sweet pea flowers next to all the others he had brought.

"Sweet pea flowers," she said softly, making him jump, "they're my favorite."

"I know silly," Luke said, reaching for her hand but unable to take it when she pulled it back into her own lap. She stared at him with the same vacant stare he had seen her give the nurse. "I'm sorry," he whispered sitting down beside her.

It was quiet between them for a while, their eyes never meeting. There was something there that Luke couldn't figure out. Something was different about her. About the way she looked at him.

"How did you know they were?" she finally asked and that is when it made sense to him. April didn't know who he was. She didn't even know he was the reason she was in the hospital to begin with.
