We lived in a small house. My mom, Avery, my dad, Jason, my little brother, Jeffery, and me, Emily. We looked very normal, but I knew I was a little different from the others. I can calculate very hard problems faster than the teacher. I was invited to skip three grades since I am calculating math problems from 10th grade. I didn't go, I wanted to be like the others. My mom took me to a test, and my result shocked the person who helped me set up the test. I didn't know how well I did since my mom won't tell me. I am going to start in a new school.
My brother Jeffery has dark brown eyes and messy hair since he likes to play with his hair when he is daydreaming. His skin is very pale. He is 6, but he is awfully small for 6. He likes to study planets and he likes to play with his toys. I am 12, and I have black hair. My height is also short and I have glasses since I read a lot of books. I have dark brown eyes and my skin is also pale, like my parents. My black hair is from my mom and my brown eyes are from my dad. I can't control myself when I get hurt, and then I cry, which I don't really want to mention. I usually read books from the 10th grade section.
I liked observing things. I liked to observe how well the grass is growing, the trees and my surroundings. I noticed that in about 3 years Jeffery would start growing taller than me. He seems to be growing now. Today I dressed up, did everything I needed to do, but I wasn't feeling very well. I walked into my mom's car, which was a small car with blue colors and looked new.
"How are you feeling, Emily?" asked my mom in a nice tone. My mom had a sweetest smile in the whole world.
"Great, mom." I muttered, since I wasn't feeling very well but I didn't want my mom and my brother to feel bad for me. I was crying so many times in my old school no one wants to be friends with me. My mom and dad had to bring me to a new school, but I knew it would cost way more. I do not want to make myself look bad in a new school. I looked through my backpack for my book. I couldn't find it.
"Great, I can't find my book." I muttered, a little more quiet this time. Reading books makes me feel more happy.
"I am going to meet Jack today and we are going to have so much fun!" said Jeffery, his eyes shining. I was kind of jealous that Jeffery could still be in the old school. And then I found out I forgot something very important, my glasses. I can't see very far without them, but we are already half way and about 10 more minutes we would be at the school. I didn't want to go back to take them. If I make myself look bad again, then that means we would have to change school again. That means more money.
"Did you remember to bring everything, Emily?" asked my mom, as if reading my mind.
"Kind of." I muttered, again.
"I forgot something mom! I forgot my notebook!" shouted Jeffery, fumbling through his backpack.
"I asked too late. I am sorry Jeffery, but it looks like this time you would need to go without your notebook." said mom.
My mom dropped Jeffery off in his old school and me in my new school.
I walked into my new school. The school smells like grass and the floor was made out of stone, white and shiny. I couldn't really recognize the number of the classroom since I forgot my glasses. I pushed the wooden door and I walked into the classroom and saw many people inside, with my new teacher, Mr. Daniels. He was about 6 feet tall, about 35 years old. He has a green tie and a expensive looking striped suit, and leather shoes. His hair was neatly combed and I could tell he used hair gel because it didn't look natural. Time passed fast and classes went fast. I tried to sit at the front because I can't see the board from the back. Turns out this school didn't have lockers, so I had to have my backpack the whole time. I couldn't see the options we had for lunch, so I picked the one that has more people lining up. Turns out, it was just rice and meat. I was happy with that, but I had to sit alone. I was eating lunch alone in the cafeteria and I could see everyone had friends, except for me. I could sense that people were staring at me eating my lunch. I can't make myself look bad now. A girl surprised me when she sat down next to me.
"Is this seat taken?" asked the girl in bright yellow clothes. She had long brown hair and green eyes. I guessed she is from England, and I was right.
"Oh, no. You can sit here." I said. It turns out that she was a old student and she saw me sitting alone. Her name is Fiona. We chatted and I was enjoying our chat. We were laughing and having fun, when the bell rang. Everybody scraped their food in the bin and scattered to their classrooms. I was trying very hard not to bump anyone since I couldn't see anything except when the people was already right in front of me, and that would be too late because when I noticed, I would bump into them. I saw Fiona chatting with a girl who wasn't really nice to me, Sophia. She had long dark hair and she was wearing a purple shirt and had brown eyes. I think they were best friends. My stomach suddenly hurts, so I quickly ran all the way into the classroom.
Time passed by fast again and before I know it, I was at my last period of the day, Science, which Fiona was also in. I noticed that Sophia was also in this class. She was also staring at me in the cafeteria which made me have a bad feeling. Fiona likes science like me, and that is why we are in the same class. Mr.Daniels called attendance and started to talk about photosynthesis. I started daydream since I already learnt all the stuff by myself, and then I came back when I heard my name.
"Emily? Could you help us write it down?" Asked Mr.Daniels. All eyes turned around and stared at me. I didn't like that feeling. Fiona gave me a thumbs up. I really want to go back home to read a book.
"Oh, okay." I replied, even though I had no idea what I was asked to do. I walked up to the board. I picked up the chalk. I could still feel all the people staring at me. I didn't want to make myself look bad. I was really sweating now. I am really scared that I am going to make myself look bad. Now I really want to go back home to read a book. I was starting to think of all negative thoughts when I decided I would start to write about all the things I learnt about photosynthesis. I wrote about a plant's structure, a tree's structure, the meaning of photosynthesis, and much more. It turns out all Mr.Daniels wanted me to do was write down the definition of photosynthesis, but I wrote down much more. He stood there, amazed.
"Who taught you all this Emily?" asked Mr.Daniels, his mouth still opened in disbelief.
"Oh. Myself, Mr.Daniels." I replied. I was hoping he would be satisfied, really hoping. I could hear Sophia saying something quietly to her friends, and I somehow knew it was about me and it wasn't something very nice.
"That was excellent! Nice job, Emily!" replied Mr.Daniels. I walked back to my seat, and tried not to look too happy about it, but I was really feeling happy. I didn't need to read a book at my way home anymore. I am now okay that Jeffery is going to his old school. Sophia whispered something to Fiona, and Fiona told her to stop saying that. Then she turn around and gave me a huge smile. I could tell this is going to be a much better school year.
