There are police cars outside Josh's house. A police officer inside informs him that Jordan is dead. All Josh can do is look down. The tears won't come.

His mom called the police, and both of Josh's parents were arrested. The police found weed in the house, and Josh's mom was high. When asked, Josh shows the police his bruises and burn marks. It's enough evidence to convict his dad, they tell him.

Everyone keeps assuring Josh that he's safe now. He doesn't have to be afraid. They're sorry his siblings are gone.

"Everybody is f***ing sorry."

Josh gets a foster home and everything is weird and purple-green-yellow. Everyone says he's so strong for taking the loss of everything so well.

The thing is, he's already lost everything. Tyler was already gone, and no one would ever be able to do anything to Josh that could top that. Not even kill his little brother and sister, arrest his parents, and put him in a foster home.

Josh doesn't feel strong. He feels weak.

But they all say he's strong, and for once, Josh believes them. Losing Tyler has somehow made him strong.

No.

It was Tyler that made him strong. Tyler was strong, but not enough. The world told him Josh didn't exist, and it killed him.

No one told Josh anything. No one cared to. But Tyler cared.

Tyler made Josh strong, even in his death.
