Marinette POV

"Marinette wake up!" My little kwami was hovering in front of my face, with a huge smile. "Today is the day your parents leave for China! You have to say goodbye!"

I sat up in bed, and looked at Tikki sleepily. "Thanks, Tikki." I said, slowly getting out of bed. I walked to the hatch in my floor and went downstairs to see if my parents were still here so I could say goodbye.

"Oh, good morning Marinette. We're glad you're up." My mom said to me, sitting down at the table, drinking her coffee.

"Hi mom. I wanted to say goodbye to you before you left." I walked around the suitcases on the floor and sat down at the table next to my mom. "Oh, and why are so many suitcases out? I thought you were only going for a week."

My mom looked at my dad, who just came out of the bedroom and then looked at me with a sigh. "Sweetheart, we hate to do this, because you are so young, but we have to stay in China for longer than expected. Your aunt has come down with a severe illness and is in the hospital. It is too late to get you a ticket to come with us, and we can't close the bakery for that long. So we offered to stay and take care of her while your uncle is working. We have to stay there for a month." She looked at the floor, embarrassed and sad that they had to be away for so long. She has left me alone at the bakery for a week before, but never for a whole month.

We all sat in silence for a couple of moments, then I finally spoke up. "Maman, Papa, you go on ahead to China. I am old enough to start living by myself, and I know how to cook and bake. If I need help, I can ask Alya." I looked up at them, and they were surprised, but happy. I gave them my biggest smile and said cheerfully, "So go help uncle Wang in China."

They both ran to me and gave me a tight hug. "Thank you so much sweetie. But how will you wake up in the morning for school AND run the bakery? It's too much to ask, Marinette." They looked at me with concern, but I confidently told them that I would set my alarm early to bake for the bakery, then get ready for school. Then during lunch I would come home and work the bakery. They were uneasy until I told them that I would still do all my homework and talk to the principal about the idea in the morning.

-Time skip-

"Bye maman, bye papa!" I yelled as I was waving goodbye to my parent's car. I sighed, and tried to remember all the things I had to do starting tomorrow morning. "Hmmm... maybe I should write down a list of all the times and things I need to do. That would help." I said as I looked around in thought.

Tikki popped out of my purse as soon as she was certain the coast was clear. "Marinette! You know it's gonna be hard to wake up in the morning even EARLIER than normal, you can't get up on regular days. Why did you agree to do this for a whole month?" Tikki was saying to me, while pacing in the air. She does that when she's stressed, or concerned, or angry... frankly, she does it ALOT.

Tikki kept on going on and on, so I rolled my eyes, and held her in my hands and told her softly, "Tikki, they went to help uncle Wang in China because they are needed there. And I am going to need your help. True, this might get tough, but I want to do this for them and for me. But look at the bright side, now you don't have to stay hidden as much because my parents are away."

Tikki's expression softened, a warm smile forming at her lips. "Well Mari, looks like you have a point. But you have to promise to try extra hard cause you know I will!" She swirled in circles in the air happily, and looked at me. "What do you say we work on that schedule you mentioned?"

We both worked on the schedule with times for the next week, and left open spaces to write in orders and more things to do like homework. "Ah, it's finally done! Now I can remember things so much easier! Tikki, thanks so much for helping me!" I gave tikki a big smile, showing her how much I appreciated her help.

"No problem Mari! Now it won't be as hard to remember what you have to do and it will be much easier with my help too!" Tikki smiled at me with joy and relief, knowing that this next month would be much easier with the schedule and the two of us working together.

The next chapter is here, especially dedicated to my friend and co-writer, Alexa. Her picture is above. This is her birthday present from me and I hope she loves it!
