"SHIT!" I saw the clock, I'm going to be late to school on the first day, my first day of highschool. This year, I'm a freshman and still haven't had my first kiss, but I wasn't allowed to date so it all made sense.
At school I was known as a good girl who has gotten straight A's and future valedictorian all her life, I was known for not taking risks. I always seemed to become the teacher pet, and the girl everyone thought was too nice. I always thought that I was a horrible monster, but obviously that's not the case.
I ran downstairs to see my mom sitting at the counter with my aunt discussing family matters, "looks like somebody decided to wake up late." My mom teased as she handed me my breakfast and backpack.
I ran to the bathroom to get ready, I didn't have time for fancy hair do's today, nor did I ever, I usually put it up in a clean ponytail with three chunks of hair hanging out around my face my bangs and two little bits of hair on the sides. I don't wear makeup, it makes me feel fake.
I almost didn't make it on time but slipped into class taking my seat right on time, as usual.
"That was close Ms. Wines, don't let it happen again." the teacher said glaring from afar.
"Don't worry, he's a dick." A curly haired boy says as I pull out my notebook to take notes.
"Shhh! Don't mess this up more than it already is!" I whisper as I turn to the rebel sitting next to me.
"Sorry love," His accent so thick. I look back towards the front as he tried to continue the conversation.
The day went by fast, time for lunch! I quietly grab my lunch and pay for it before some one could come and judge me.
"Hailey! Where were you this morning?" My best friend Abby screeched as I sat down.
"So that's your name." A British voice coming from above as the boy in my first hour sits next to me. "Hailey Wines. Hey are you Italian?" His voice getting faster.
"Yes, but I'm more British, Irish, and Indian. Now go away, I am trying to eat here." I try to sound sassy.
"But I just got her-" I look at him sternly. "Yes mom."
As he walked away Abby gave me a look of complete horror. "Did you just shut down Harry Styles?!" her eyes widening.
"And...?" Making it obvious I don't care and never will.
"Really? Can you let him know I'm open? I mean he gets girls spreading their legs faster than they can say hello. Mmmmm hot damn he is smokin'!" She scarfs.
"I'm not interested, I have to focus on schooling. I have a bright future ahead of me and I'm not letting him ruin that." I get up to throw away my food, I don't eat much anymore, it makes you fat, and being fat doesn't get you anywhere in life.
Harry Styles, not too ugly, horrid grades, and quite a player, what does Abby see in him? I know I don't have room to talk because I don't like any one, I'm too focused on my future.
••
"I'm home!" I yell throughout the house.
No answer.
I found a note on the table
Hailey,
I went to the hospital, they got back the results from the heart monitor. Do your chores before going to volleyball practice. Don't forget you have a meeting with the Honor Society today! I'll be back soon!
