The food may have been cold, but it still tasted divine. We ate and made small talk. Will told me about the weirdest request he'd ever got.

"No I swear, that man literally asked me to paint his girlfriend having sex with his best friend. He even had pictures and said it had to be as detailed as possible." "You didn't take it, did you?" "It got me a million dollars and I was desperate. Also I was featured in the headline of the local newspaper. 'New chief of police force breaks up with girlfriend the creative way'. I had no idea he was the new chief of police."

"In all of my life I haven't heard anything like that." Too late I realised my mistake. "Nico I think you're getting drunk from the root beer. You're 20, that's not that long." "Oops my brain wasn't connecting with my mouth."

Will smiled amused. He stood and looked at me. "You're sure about the offer of letting me live with you?" "Yes, of course. As long as you don't paint me at weird moments." "Deal"

--

A little later I opened the door to my apartment block. On my front door hung a note: 'THE AGE OF MEN IS OVER'. I snatched the paper of the wood quickly. Hiding the message from Will, who was curiously looking around. Not that there was much to see in the hallway.

"What was that?"

"My neighbour, an old lady. She complained that I made too much noise yesterday. Mrs. O'Leary knocked over a vase, giving me a heart attack."

The door opened and for three seconds I saw my own apartment. Then a black mass knocked me of my feet.

"Easy girl. Will, this is Mrs. O'Leary, my dog. I should've mentioned earlier that I own a dog. She is more like a big thrash can. (me). She eats everything that's not being touched or kept out of her reach."

"Yes might've been nice to mention. Not that I mind. I love dogs. And now I won't leave my food unattended."

I pushed Mrs. O'Leary away from my face. She sniffled a circle around Will, wiggled her tail approvingly and bounded back to her own chair.

Yes my dog has her own chair. Otherwise she destroys my couch. She doesn't have the looks for it, but she is wicked against couch pillows.

"Um I don't exactly have any spare clothes with me right now. And it's pretty late..."

The confident smile that had been on his face previously had been replaced with an awkward blush. I cut him off before he could embarrass himself further. "Will, there is a closet in the spare room. It might have something that fits you in it, although you are a lot taller than me. There must be sweatpants in there, but a shirt is going to be a problem. We don't have the same sized shoulders."

Will smiled gratefully at me. He turned away, took three steps and turned back. "Um, where is the spare room?"

"I'll show you."

--

After I'd shown him to the room, I walked back into the lounge and sat on the couch. I turned on the TV, news channel.

"New research has shown that nature is in a far worse condition then we could have ever suspected. There isn't much left, and what is still there, is weak or ill." The news reader swallowed, and looked nervously at her cards. "If nothing happens soon, mankind will cause the destruction of nature."

"These kind of news items always freak me out. I feel like I should do something, but I don't know how or what."

Will had entered the lounge and was standing behind me, leaning on the back of the couch. The grey sweats were a little short at the ankles, but the rest seemed fine.

The one thing that I couldn't quite process was the fact that he was shirtless. The freckles of his face continued on his shoulders. He wasn't super muscular, but toned. His tan skin glowed under the soft yellow lights of my apartment, making it shimmer.

I didn't realise I was staring until Will spoke up again. "Liking what you see?" Will smirked, not so innocently. He flexed his muscles. I felt my face heat up, and swallowed twice to fid back my tongue. "Stop that before..."

"Before what? Before you get a boner." Whatever I was about to say, died in my throat. I'd been around with all sorts of insults, but in this decade people are straight to the point and rude. I wasn't quite used to that.

"No, before my binocular stalker starts taking pictures. In case you haven't noticed, this lounge has a glass wall, and a girl in the building there, spies on me with binoculars. Not that she has much to spy on, just me eating, and watching TV." "Should I be worried when I take a shower?" "No, I don't think so. But never walk into the lounge naked when... wait why would you ever walk around naked?"

The words tumbled from my mouth without my consent. A blush crept onto my face. He laughed, loud and flopped down on the couch. "Can he please watch something like the nature channel, this makes me feel bad about human kind."

I gave him the remote. The rest of the evening we watched the nature channel. Will was good company, and for the first time in a long time I wasn't alone, or thought about Bianca.

--

Over the next few days I helped him unpack and move his stuff into my apartment. It involved a lot of boxes being carried up the stairs, with a lot a of swearing. That second part was mainly Will though.

After two days of moving, everything was settled in. Will collapsed next to me on the couch and murmured: "I'm not going to leave this couch until I've got the feeling in my arms back." He complained some more and I just sighed and stood up.

"I'm going to get some groceries. Don't try to die whilst I'm gone. Here is the spare key. I forgot to give it to you." I tossed him the key, nit really thinking about the words I was saying. "Why would I die/ it's not like I'm the world most wanted person." If only you knew.

"I guess my mind and mouth weren't connecting again."

I swiftly left the room and went to the store, before I could hear his response.
