The New Girl

Chapter One

Today is the day, the day I leave everything. I sigh as I look out the window of my bedroom for the last time, I see that my friends have just pulled up the drive way to say goodbye.

I hear mum yell, "Charlotte, Ashley, Sarah and Lei are here!"

I grab my carry on bag for the plane and walk out the front. They all run up to me and give me the biggest hug, I start to tear up realizing that this is the last time I'm gonna hug them and see them in a long time. We all pull away and I see the other girls are tearing up as well.

"We are going to miss you so much," Ashley says giving me another hug.

"I'm gonna miss you guys so much too, I can't explain how happy you guys make me and that the highlight of my day is talking to you guys, because I know that you all will make me smile," I said choking on my words.

After ten minutes of us saying goodbye and trying not to cry mum manages to get me away from them and into the car. I look down and see the three pieces of folded paper that each of them gave to me. I contemplate on whether to open them or not, I decide not to because I am so emotional right now. I put them in my bag and look out the window waving to them as we drive off, I put my head phones in and let the music take me somewhere else.

I'm currently sitting in the waiting area for our flight, listening to music, when I feel someone tap my shoulder, I turn to see my mum.

"I know it was tough for you to say goodbye to your friends like that but just think of moving as a new beginning, your gonna make new friends as well just remember that." She says trying to make me feel better about moving. 

I just nod and try to give her a convincing smile. Then I hear what I've been dreading to hear all morning.

"All passengers going to North Carolina, Your flight is now boarding."
