Maybe it was the dim light that made the short haired brunette look ever more heavenly than what he had done a few moments ago. Or maybe it was the layer of smoke surrounding him. It might've just been his natural good looks but either ways, the blonde with child like innocent blue eyes couldn't keep his gaze away from the man with the chiseled cheek bones and jaw line. And even though he knew full well that was rude of him to be staring at an older man so openly, he still couldn't bring his eyes to stare anywhere else, mostly because he didn't want to. He just wanted to sit and admire beauty.
"Niall, mate, are you paying attention to me?" Barbara's shrill voice made the blonde snap back to reality, his eyes focusing their attention towards his own group of friends instead of the males that occupied the farthest corner of the pub. He mentally scolded himself for getting so easily distracted but alas, he had always been a lover of all sorts of beautiful things and the man smoking a cigarette by the open window, was definitely the most beautiful human he had ever had the honor of seeing. Niall concluded that he was allowed to be distracted.
"What were you talking about again?" The Irishman smiled cheekily, getting a groan from his female companion but thankfully, the loud sound seemed to be the reason for the man in the corner of the pub to glance at his table, even if that brief flicker of his eyes just lasted for less than a second. The blonde cursed his Irish luck for not working out when he needed it to.
"I was telling you about how annoying Christina is and how I feel that I should really be moving out. She's always leaving a mess in the room and I'm not a baby sitter..." The girl droned on and on, and Niall muted her, focusing rather on the drink in his hand while nodding every now and then. He really didn't want to be out socializing after a long day of working on college projects and assignments but alas, he had to do certain things for his "friends," most of whom had just left him to listen to Barbara's comments about her roommate. He really wanted to tell the girl to stop and get her room changed already but instead, like the gentleman he was supposed to pretend to be, he allowed her to carry on with her charade.
"I just need to use the loo." The blonde blurted out suddenly after a solid fifteen minute of listening to the annoying high pitched voice. He felt like his ears were about to bleed and the fact that the handsome hunk hadn't even bothered glancing in his direction was also pissing him off. It wasn't as if Niall wasn't attractive. On the contrary, he was definitely the most attractive person in the room, next to the guy with the lit cigarette of course. With his blonde hair overgrown a bit and a neat grey shirt on with blue skinny jeans, Niall was certain that he presented the looks of a 'I'm innocent but please fuck me' kind of a twink but despite it all, he hadn't received a single appreciative glance from the clearly older man.
Without waiting for Barbara or any other of his classmates to respond, the blonde got up from his chair and walked towards the bathroom, all the while keeping his gaze focused straight ahead. He didn't want to give into temptation and look across the room to where the windows were showing the golden glow the city always had during hours past eight in the evening. It was a beautiful view but what made it even more beautiful was that brunette man, just sitting by the bar stool, half a window opened for the cigarette smoke to go out and the light breeze ruffling his hair up every now and then, those short mops of brown waves blowing gently in the air. It made Niall's heart lurch that somebody could possibly look so pretty. He bit his lip though, keeping a firm resolve and walking inside the marble tiled men's room with just a hint of difficulty.
Having done his business as quickly as he possibly could have, Niall washed his hands, preparing himself to say a small apology to his friends and make a lame excuse to go back to his apartment. When he had moved to London, he had somehow managed to get into the dorm rooms but now that he was already in his second year of sound engineering, he was thinking of moving to the flats available in the cheaper side of the city rather than the dorms where he had to share everything with complete strangers. Just as he was about to leave the toilets, his smaller frame collided with a much bigger one, making shivers run down his spine. The blonde gulped largely, lifting his eyes to take a look at the presence hovering above him. He froze, watching the smirk tainting those full lips and clenched his fists, resisting the urge to reach a hand out and just touch those perfectly shaped lips. Instead, he took a step back until his back had collided against the wash basin.
"Easy there." The stranger spoke, his voice slow and husky, English accent sticking out and making it all the more dreamy and just so romantic that it made Niall think of all the moments when he would enjoy listening to that voice calling his name out. He snapped his thoughts away, trying to get his mind to operate but nothing happened, other than the taller man, the one who was perched by the windows smoking his cigarette, now staring down at him with a wide smirk. "Are you just going to stand there and stare?" The taller man asked casually, quirking an eyebrow as he reached for the other sink, opening the tap and washing his hands, all the while keeping his gaze locked with Niall's blue eyes and now, with all that smoke gone, the blonde could finally point out that the brunette's eyes were green. A nice shade of forest green.
"I-I'm sorry," he voiced out shakily, cursing himself mentally for stumbling on his words and even stuttering. But that's what beautiful people did to other average human beings. They made it so difficult to think and operate properly in their presence and Niall was definitely overwhelmed.
"Nothing to apologize for, except for the staring bit. It's rude to stare at people when they're busy smoking their cigarette, you know?" Niall blinked twice, trying to decipher what the slow voice had just said, a smirk in the voice and blushed furiously once he realized that he had been caught staring, not just right now but when they were sitting, in seats far too away from each other. He fiddled with his fingers.
"I-I'm so sorry." The shorter man whispered once again, focusing his eyes on his blue vans. He prepared himself to leave, but before he could take a single step outside the room, the handsome stranger was speaking once again and this time, Niall was sure his face resembled that of a tomato.
"Never said I didn't like the staring."
AN/ So....yeah....I'm aiming to make this short and simple but with more plot and story to offer than other of my works. However, that's what I'm planning but I have zero plots in mind. .I'll figure something out lol.
