So from now on the following chapters will be shorter than the first two. Pretty much what the triangle pattern on her arm looks like ^^ -Cat
I hurriedly jumped up from where I sat, picked up all the items I had just taken out, then replaced them where I had found them before. Once everything was cleaned up, I grabbed my phone and started to text Lauren about dad. I needed to know if he were actually okay.
Just before I left, I felt a strange feeling in the pit of my stomach. I stopped at my bedroom door, turning around slowly to see the book still lying there on the floor; open.
Without a second thought, I had ran over to it quickly so I could shut it, then shoved it sloppily under my bed before checking the time and swiftly leaving the house so I could get there before anymore bad weather hit.As I ran down the street, desperate to get there now, my phone buzzed in my pocket. I decided this was a good time to take a small break from running, so I stopped and rested my hands on my knees as I checked my phone. The screen lit up with Lauren's name and her reply.
I quickly opened it so I could read every word. My stomach twisted in anxiety as I started to read. They haven't let me see him yet. ~Lauren
Ough! The wait was literally killing me. Maybe not literally, but it felt like it was. This was my father and only parent on the line. I had just preformed some crazy spell-thing that I was now regretting. I was losing hope that my father would actually get better because of what a strange and possibly evil book told me through the text.
I've never seen or heard of what I had done in my room. It gave me such feelings inside that were indescribable. And then that mark that it left on me....
This was no joke, whether it worked or not, this was serious and has done something permanent to me. Whatever that is, I'm not sure I'll ever know, and it terrifies me.Why?? You don't know anything?? ~Anna
Nothing. ~Lauren
Lauren is like a sealed vault when it comes to situations like these. She hardly says anything and is pretty much impossible to pry open. I mean, I am highly aware that the doctors are telling her nothing, but she shuts down from any little bit of information she might have already.
I just knew that I had to get to the hospital and quickly, but all of this running was seriously starting to kill me. Yeah, I was going to die for sure. My legs were already starting to feel like jello and I was having a hard time fully catching my breath. I'm apparently not in shape, I should think about my health more.
Just as I was about to force my tired body to take off again, I heard a loud crash from behind me. A really loud crash--so loud I jumped about ten feet in the air. I whirled around quickly, to see the terrible sight that had just unfolded in front of me. Well, technically it happened behind me but I was now facing this disaster.
Two cars had collided apparently, causing one to swerve off of the road completely. I couldn't believe what I was seeing, whoever was in that car has to be dead or terribly injured. And no one was around, everyone was in their houses and it was dark outside, but that made sense considering the weather was dangerous just moments ago.
I so badly wanted to run to my father, but these people might need my help. They might not have anyone else. I decided to do the right thing and stay here as I checked to see if the people were okay, so I could call 911.
I ran over to the car that was off the road first, just to make sure. I was terrified of what I might find--I didn't want to find any dead people or injured children. Oh gosh, I'd lose it if I found a dead child. Children are so innocent and young. Kind of like me.....but I'm not a child. I'm sixteen, and can get through this. Here we go..
Just as I neared the car, fear tearing at my stomach, a voice was heard from behind me.
