Kandori, Sovii, Tendorra and Rafi
Above the desert planet of Tatooine, a Star Destroyer was being bombarded by it's own TIE's, overtaken by Rebels, thanks to a cleverly plotted plan by Kaida Boradin.
The only problem was, Sovii was aboard that ship, searching for the ship's captain: Darth Tendorra.
She had dispatched every Stormtrooper she came across, cutting them down with her blue ligthtsaber, they never saw it coming.
She reached the blast doors; leading into the bridge of the Star Destroyer, with the power of the Force, the doors slid apart, allowing her entrance.
The bridge was being run by Imperial officers , all looked to her when the blast doors slid apart.
The person standing at the main viewport turned to look at her as well: Darth Tendorra, all 6 feet of her, standing there in her imposing armour, helmet and cape.
Sovii was not afraid, the Force helped her keep the peace within herself, she strode forward as if she were gliding on ice, the very image of peace and poise.
The officers and admirals barely allowed to her step fully on the bridge, blasters were pulled and aimed at her, she stopped slowly, her ligthsaber held out at her side, unignited.
"It was unwise of you to board this Star Destroyer, Sovii Annix, even your 'wise' master could not see the mistake." Tendorra told her in a synthetic voice.
Sovii remained impassive, her thumb hovering over the trigger of her weapon.
"The only mistake made here today was your decision to come to Tatooine." She gave Tendorra a levelled gaze.
The Sith chuckled darkly, taking two steps forward, she raised her hand. "Lower your weapons."
The officers and admirals obeyed automatically.
Sovii noticed this and wondered if Tendorra had them under some sort of Sith mind control or if they obeyed her willingly. She was guessing the latter, Tendorra was quite intimidating and when angered would kill without hesitation.
"You are merely a Padawan and cannot begin to hope to prevail against the Dark Side of the Force, your former Padawan friend is proof of that." Tendorra ignited her hooked saber, the crimson blade humming with power.
Sovii was hesitant to ignite her own saber, a seed of doubt planted within her: Could she spar against a Sith like Tendorra? It was what her master had been training her for, but now faced with the task, she was unsure...
"I feel your doubt, you doubt your masters training, as you should. Kaida Boradin was a foolish Jedi, she was as controlled by the Council as all the rest."
A flare of anger rose within Sovii, she fought to keep it down, she was angered by Tendorra's comment, but mostly she was angry with herself for being such an open book.
"It is you, Tendorra, who is the one being controlled. Your Lord, Darth Sidious, is a warped old crone who has been corrupted by the Dark Side of the Force, and that path leads to nothing but a slow and painful death."
Tendorra chuckled again, stepping closer, the Imperials edged away from the two, wary of the incoming Lightsaber duel.
"You mean to kill me? That is the Dark Side speaking through you. In that case, I encourage you to slay me, Young Padawan, and begin your inevitable journey to the Dark Side."
Sovii ground her teeth, taking a few steps forward, raising her blade in a defensive position.
"I'll never join the Dark Side." Sovii growled, some of her peace leaving her.
"It's amusing..." Tendorra purred. " That's exactly what oung Rafi Nabeshin said to me."
The Sith lashed out at her, Sovii, surprised by the outburst, fought to block the flurry of lightsaber strikes, her blade crashing into Tendorra's, sparks flew and the Imperials ducked for cover.
Sovii fought back now, delivering her own set of blows, forcing Tendorra back a few steps as a wave of blaster bolts rocked the ship.
Sovii hardly noticed this, letting herself become immersed in the Force as she fought Tendorra, her blows and strikes becoming more precise.
"Give in to your hatred of me, that's the only way you shall win this fight!" Tendorra growled when their blades clashed again, their faces a foot apart.
Sovii shouted and shoved into her blade, pushing Tendorra back again.
"The Light Side will always prevail!"On the surface of Tatooine, Kandori Lethil used the Force to help free herself from the wreckage.
There was wreckage all around her, burned corpses of TIE's, X-wings and Y-wings littered the desert around her, the bodies of their pilots and droids strewn about like discarded junk.
Kandori was lucky to be alive, she had cushioned herself with the Force upon impact, her Y-wing now nothing more than a burning and useless lunk of metal.
The attack had been a surprise, even though the Rebels had taken control of countless Imperial TIE's, the Empire had sent in back-up not soon after the battle had started.
Three more Star Destroyers appeared in their wake, one had shot down Kandori's ship, flying through the atmosphere of Tatooine had completed the damage to her Y-wing and had sent her hurtling into the sand dunes.
The suns were setting behind her, casting shadows across the sand, the shadows of destroyed ships, Rebel, Imperial and droid bodies and the shadows of the dunes.
Kandori felt as if a shadow had passed over the hopes of the Rebellions dreams of winning this battle, she wondered how Sovii was faring on Tendorra's command ship, the Dark Arrow.
Finally freed of the wreckage, Kandori struggled to her feet, examining herself, she saw she was cut up on nearly every part of her body, even after she had cushioned herself during the crash.
Her comlink still worked, miraculously, she brought it to her split and bleeding lips, thumbing it on.
" This is Kandori Lethil reporting from the surface of Tatooine, I've crashed landed with countless other Rebels and Imperials, is the battle won or lost?"
For a few minutes, there was only static that met her, her hope dwindling with each passing moment.
After repeating the message a third time, someone came through, it was slow at first but grew steadily prominent.
"This is Blue Four, the battle is ongoing, our odds of success now look unlikely, shall we retreat?"
Kandori recognized the voice, it was once bounty hunter Zinaria Rendix, now a pilot for the Rebellion, she sounded defeated already.
Kandori was the battle commander of this particular battle, she contemplated Zinaria's inquiry.
"Is Sovii Annix still aboard the Dark Arrow?" Kandori asked slowly.
There was more static but Zinaria came through yet again. " Sovii Annix is still aboard."
Kandori cursed but knew Sovii had parked her ship in the Dark Arrow's hangar bay, as soon as she did or did not dispatch Darth Tendorra, she would make her getaway in that ship.
" Full Retreat, leave behind the Rebels Revenge behind in case Sovii's ship is compromised, instruct them to turn on their cloaking device, do you understand?" Kandori instructed Zinaria.
Zinaria's reply was automatic. " Yes, Ma'am, I'll relay the orders now. Shall I send a ship down to retrieve you Commander?"
" You shall, send the smallest freighter still intact."
" As you wish, commander."
Kandori slipped the com back into her breast pocket, shielding her eyes against the light of the suns and the blowing sand.
As she stood there, something flickered within her, a presence, the presence of the Dark Side.
Turning on a booted heel to the worst of the ship wreckage, Kandori studied the dunes and broken ships for something or someone.
Finally, her eyes landed upon a tall figure, clad in all black, a crimson lightsaber blade ignited at their side.
Kandori knew without ever walking closer that it was her once fellow Padawan and friend Rafi Nabeshin.
Kandori looked to her destroyed Y-wing and saw the glint of her saber sticking out of the sand, she reached her hand out and it flew into her open palm.
Somehow, the Nautolan had known this day was coming, even if they had fought briefly in the past, she knew this fight would be entirely different and all the more devastating.
She stood motionless, wondering who would make the first move, she was a Nautolan of action, but she was hesitant to fight her once-friend and fellow padawan.
And with a remarkable leap, Rafi flew through the sky and landed mere feet from where she stood.
Kandori ignited her own saber, her heart skipping a beat, after that, she called upon the Force for peace.
" She'll be dead before you can even hope to save her." Rafi spoke up, his voice deeper than the last time they had encountered each other.
Kandori knew he meant Sovii but decided to speak against his comment anyways. " Yes, your Master will be as dead as her master before her."
Rafi smiled a toothy grin. " You believe the great Darth Vekarr is truly dead?"
She knew he was trying to plant a seed of doubt within her; she knew the corrupt Togruta was dead, it had been reported she and her ship had met their demise in the snowy tundra of Navaria.
" It matters not, Darth Tendorra has grown more powerful than her master and yours, soon, Sovii Annix will be another victim added to her list."
Kandori raised her saber into a defensive position, subconsciously knowing that's what he wanted, his words were bait.
" You underestimate my friend." Kandori replied as Rafi moved into an offensive pose.
" And you underestimate the power of the Dark Side."
To his surprise, Kandori struck first, her saber whipping out at his right, he barely blocked it and his forearm was sliced open slightly by her yellow blade, he hissed and shoved her blade away with his own.
He fought back, jumping closer now so they were only two feet apart, they parried and lashed out, yellow and red blades flashing and sparking, sending their shadows down onto the sand and ship wreckage.
He flipped over her, attempting to slice open her back, she blocked by thrusting her blade behind her, spinning she delivered a series of four blows, pushing him back and causing him to stumble over bits of discarded ship parts.
" Watch your step!" Kandori threw her hand out towards him, creating a small crater behind him as he stepped backwards.
Rafi backflipped over the obstacle and threw a damaged hyperdrive towards her, she split it in half with a swipe of her saber, sending the halved engine away from her.
She jumped towards him, their blades clashing again as she swung her saber at him.
" It is useless to continue this battle! Even now, your Rebel forces are fleeing from the wrath of the Empire, but I assure you, they will not be allowed to escape!" Rafi snarled, again, baiting her.
Kandori shouted and slashed at him, he blocked and shoved her blade away, swiping at her left, she blocked his move and kicked him in the abdomen, he turned it into a backflip and landed atop the viewport of an X-wing.
" You are overconfident, my friend." Kandori shouted back, throwing a shattered viewport at him, he sent it flying left with a wave of his hand.
Kandori was astonished at the Dark Side power rippling off him in palpable waves, though she did not know, Rafi was receiving the same feeling from her, but it was the Light Side he felt instead of the Dark.
" And you are blinded by your own confidence." More broken and destroyed ship parts were thrown her way, she dodge them, slicing some apart as they flew towards her.
This will be a battle most legendary... but to whom? The Empire or the Rebellion? Kandori thought as Rafi attacked again.
