A long time ago, when the Earth was still forming into the continents that we all know, there was an era of time called Drepori. During this era people lived with magic, monsters, and science all at the same time. The people involved with science shunned and disdained magic, while the magi discouraged science. Monsters would raid villages for food and weapons.
Orcs and Goblins were the most common monsters, however there was one other monster unique to the time of Drepori. The people who had seen it called it Shadow, others who had heard the tale call it Reaper, while the creature called itself Firenzor.
Most villages consisted of many houses around a main square, with a wall around the town. Farmlands lay just outside the walls, growing the crops needed for the town. Farmers would get raided more often than the towns themselves, so if you wish to know about monsters, see a farmer. Within the town walls, most villages had a well located in the square, with the market built around that. Cities are far more grand. Most are clusters of three to four towns, the biggest being the Capitol. Unlike all other cities and towns The Capitol is built more like a stronghold than a town.
The Capitol has two walls, the outer wall is the largest, reaching fourty feet tall, fifteen feet thick, with a diameter of 300 feet from the north to the south wall. No creature has ever broken through, so they call it Wall Bane. This wall has eight gates, each main gate is centered at north, east, south and west. Then it has secondary gates at northeast, southeast, southwest, and northwest. Each secondary gate has three thick metal gates, each entrance protected at all times by five knights, four crossbow men, and one sorcerer.
The main gates are designed with science in mind. The entrance into the wall on either side is protected by two large stone tablets, five feet thick, connected to a winch system. When a tablet is pulled up anyone can enter or leave the city, but must first be checked by city guards for illegal goods. Each gate is closed at dusk and opened at dawn. The secondary gates are opened for most residents on a daily basis. The second wall, known as Wall Ice, is designed to keep citizens out. It has one gate on the north side big enough for most carts to squeeze through however you must have a permit or passport to enter, as the center is the seat of the government.
The people who live between walls Bane and Ice are the general population of the Capitol. The political system is set up as a combination monarchy, and parliament. The parliament has the power to decree laws but the King or Queen in power can counter the law or pass their own. The King usually attends the sessions of parliament in order to understand what the people need to prosper. The current ruling House is House Fyor. They have ruled for six generations and have helped the people more than any other royal family. Our story is about a woman, the daughter of the current King. By the name of Dranna, of House Fyor, the princess, of The Order of Helios. It is her eighteenth birthday, the day of her acceptance of half of the royal duties. Our story begins with her, on the morning of this wonderful day.
