Chapter 1

Late for everything

DING DING DING DING

I smacked my alarm, sending it flying into my closet with a THUD, and I groaned. That was really loud...

Ugh...when did I go to sleep last night?

I rolled over, trying to wake up....

My brain was very foggy as I tried to remember what was happening today.

Train...11:00....wizards...Hogwarts...

I quickly sat up, my brain finally functioning...

I'm not even packed yet! I yelled in my mind, and jumped out of my bed, my feet bare and cold as I ran through the hall and past the kitchen. I could smell bacon and pancakes, and my mom singing the Hogwarts school song.

I ran to the basement, trying not to slip on the slick wooden stairs. (Mum was crazy about them being spotless.)

I finally got to the bottom of the stairs, and went to look for my trunk. Where did I put it? I just got it this summer break, and mum told me to put it in the basement until I needed it. of course, I forgot where.

Typical me...

I looked through some of the rooms, under beds, in closets, and hadn't found anything. Starting to panick, I checked our storage.

OH! I ran over to the trunk, which was stacked up on top of several boxes full of old toys and papers.

I sighed, and carefully tried to move boxes out from under it-

BAM CRASH THUD

" OW!!! Jesus Christ-"

I rubbed my head, a goose egg forming on the side. I looked to my right, and their it was. My stupid trunk. A box had fallen and crashed down on my head, followed by my trunk, giving me a huge lump on the side of my head.

"James! What was that?"

"Nothing mum! I'm fine!" I said, standing up and grabbing my trunk.

I finally realized that I had to be to the train at 11:00 exactly, or I would never go to Hogwarts. I stared down at my watch on my left wrist, and jolted upward.

" NINE THIRTY?!" I shrieked, as I ran up the stairs, slipping on a couple of the steps, carrying my trunk. It jiggled around madly, and was very hard to run with.

" JAMES! We are leaving in an HOUR. Please hurry up and pack, since you didn't do it when I told you to LAST NIGHT..." I heard my mum yell at me as I zoomed past her. "And don't forget to eat!"

I knew she was rolling her eyes as she said it.

I finally got to my room, and threw my suitcase on my bed.

Okay James, think.

I started ripping open dresser drawers, throwing socks, pajamas, and everything else I could find that looked like it should go to Hogwarts in my suitcase.

I walked to my closet, and grabbed shoes, books, quills, shirts and pants, and threw them in also.

I ran to my bathroom, brushed my teeth with an abnormal speed, and attempted to comb my hair.

"Ergh..mmf.." I said, as i tried to get my hair to lay flat, "COME ON! UGH! Forget it." I said, grabbing my toothbrush and comb and throwing them in my trunk.

My hair never does what I want it too anyways, and it never stops growing.

"James here eat this." My mom said, shoving a fork into my mouth. My mouth watered at the taste of eggs and smoky bacon.

I gratefully took the plate and fork and watched as she magically organized my things, and got everything I needed.

" My goodness James..sometimes I worry about you." She said, rolling her eyes to the ceiling.

I just grinned, food stuffed in my mouth.

" charming. " she scoffed, and slammed my trunk shut. " well you're all set then. All your school books and school things are in another small trunk down stairs..don't forget that." She gave me a serious look.

" I won't." I said, taking the last bite of my breakfast.

"Also, Dad wants all the kids downstairs, he has a surprise for all of you." She said, taking my plate and walking out of my room.

I wonder what it is? I thought to myself as I hoisted my trunk off my bed, and it landed on the ground with a loud THUNK.

"Well here we gooo.." I said, and pulled my trunk behind me as I walked down the hall and to our lounge room. .
