The Fault In Our Star Signs

Chapter One

So this story is a bit more different from my other ones so I do hope you guys enjoy it and I am not that familiar with zodiac signs but I have done my fair amount of research so please enjoy and make sure to vote + comment xx

I frowned at the mirror as I patted the crease's on my uniform. The black material showed resistance as it became even more creased. I huffed to myself. It's fine its not even that noticeable.

I tied my blonde hair back and threw on a beanie to hide the messiness. I peered at my phone, it was already 8. The first day back to school and I was already late. It was my last year in Zodiac academy. That also meant the star ceremony. Its a bit hard to process but the world I live in everything revolves around your star sign. For example, Aries are loud, passionate and outspoken people but they are also egotistic and vain. I am a Gemini, so naturally I am sociable, inspirational and I also represent two sides of my personality. And I am so grateful of being a Gemini because when a baby Gemini is born, he or she will be given a gem sister or brother. This is basically a person who is also a Gemini and shares the same birthday as you. I have a gem brother, Dylan, and we literally are inseparable. This is one of the main perks of being a Gemini but there are also downfalls. This year I will have to decide who I want as my life partner. And unfortunately Geminis are most compatible with Aries. This tradition has been going on for many years. I have no objection to it but I always wondered what it would be like to defy fate. To make my own destiny.
My phone began to beep.

Please hurry up! Otherwise you can walk it to school!

I moaned in frustration. Why does school have to be so early in the morning. I grabbed my backpack in a huff and glanced at my room one last time. I wont be coming back as zodiac academy is basically a boarding school. As I ran down the stairs, I managed to trip over one of Lexie's toys.
I landed with a big thunk at the bottom of the stairs.

"Kira darling," mum rushed over to me.

"I'm fine, mum seriously" she fussed over me for another minute before cupping my cheeks.

"It's a big year for you" she smiled
"Yes mum we spoke about this a gazillion times" I said as I remove her hands from my face.

"I know darling, it's just you're a Gemini and well Aries are not the best people person" she grunted.

My mum is a Taurus and my father is a Virgo. Funny thing about compatibility is that you never really know who you are compatible with. My parents are living proof of that. They argue so much that sometimes I wonder if they are even right for each other?

"Don't worry, as long as I don't choose Aaron during the ceremony then I'll be fine"

Aaron summers. The richest yet snobbiest boy in the whole of Zodiac academy. We have a mutual relationship. He hates me and I hate him. God forbid if his name gets chosen.

"Aaron is a lovely boy, I tell you his mum makes the most amazing quiche" mum ranted on about Aaron but she didn't see him as the evil monster that he is. He is basically the devil's spawn.

"He is such a lovely boy isn't he? Aw imagine how proud me and your father would be if you and him are compatible?"

"He is an arrogant bastard" I muttered under my breath.

"When will Dylan be here? Oh my! The time is 8.30 already!"
Mum rushed around the kitchen throwing breakfast bars at me.
"Eat dear, you need your energy"

I snuck the breakfast bar and pretended to take a bite out of it. When mum wasn't looking, I stuffed it into the bin.

"Ok mum, I need to to go" I kissed her goodbye and she gave me a long hug.

"Mum you can let go" I said as I tried to release her grip off me. For a very petite lady she was pretty strong.

"I'm sorry, I just get emotional every time. Remeber what your father said"

"Dont choose the reputation but the character of the star, blah blah" I say with a monotone voice.
"Isn't it the same thing?" I asked

"Awh dear, there is a lot for you to still understand about a person which makes me worry even more about you"

I gave her a surprised look.
"Mother I am perfectly fine of taking care of myself"
I gave her one last hug and blew a kiss towards Lexie. She returned the kiss by throwing baby oatmeal at my face.

"Great, just great"
