Chapter 17

Lauren's POV

Monday, September 1st 8:40am
My morning went like any other, workout, get ready, eat breakfast, go to school and meet my friends. Josh wasn't at school today though something about him not feeling good or something. I asked him did he want me to come check on him after school, but he said his mom was off today so she was there with him, so I didn't have to. "Laur, where's your boy toy?" Anne asked me, I chuckled at her nickname for him "He's not feeling well today, so he's home." Ashton mumbled something under his breath but I didn't catch it, so I just ignored it. A part of me wondered about Ms. Cabello leaving the concert early and then her not texting me back, but I would make sure to ask her in class today.

I wasn't hungry at lunch so I headed right to class. To my surprise Camila was there. "Hey Lauren, what are you doing here?" Camila asked me "Not hungry, so I just came to class. Is that alright?" I hesitated unsure if it was or not "Yeah, that's no problem." She gave me a small smile before she continued with a dramatic eye roll and a sigh "If you must." Her smile grew, I laughed lightly "So I texted you Saturday after the concert trying to see why you left. I was gonna ask you if you enjoyed the concert." "Oh yeah sorry I left earlier because I wasn't feeling well so when I got home I went straight to sleep. Sunday I was hanging out with some friends, so I didn't check my phone. I did enjoy the concert though, you guys were great." I smiled and nodded my head in understanding "You have three guesses though." "Ahh! That's right, I do. Let's see I'm gonna say you're the captain of the soccer team, you're a center...and you're a swimmer?" I was impressed that she got two right "Yes, yes and no." Her eyes grew in excitement and a big grin was plastered across her face. "Yes!! I'm the best!" I couldn't help laughing at her childish antics "Yeah sure if you say so." She started playing with her fingers looking nervous for some reason "Um this might sound weird, but my two best friends want to meet you.. They- I uh told them you were in a band and you guys were really talented." It was a little weird seeing her nervous and shy so I gave her a friendly smile to show her it didn't bother me "Well my next game is home on Thursday, why don't you just bring them and I'll meet them there?" Her smile was replenished and she nodded "Yeah, that'd be great!" I walked up to the board and started writing on it (5/12) "What's that represent?" She questioned "You have twelve things you need to guess and you've gotten five of them right." I grabbed a piece of paper and wrote out a chart so we would know which ones she's alright gotten correct. I handed it to her and she slipped it in her desk, we made small talk for the remainder of lunch.

Anne, Calum, Ashton and I headed to Calum's for our band practice. Anne was deciding dates and locations for our next concerts, while the boys and I were trying to write a new song. "Hey I got something, how about this..." I picked up Calum's guitar and strummed out sort of an intro before singing the few lines that popped into my head to the melody that fit.

I'm in the business of misery, let's take it from the top
She's gotta body like an hour glass, it's ticking like a clock
It's a matter of time before we all run out
When I thought he was mine, she caught him by the mouth
I waited eight long months, she finally set him free
I told him I couldn't lie, he was the only one for me
Two weeks we caught on fire
She had it out for me but I wore the biggest smile

"That's all I got at the moment." I informed the guys waiting for their reactions "That's dope Laur, I think I have an idea for the next line. Woah I never meant to..."

Anne had scheduled our next few shows and the next one was set for Friday night. She even printed off the flyers with our upcoming show dates and locations so they were ready to hang up tomorrow. We had finished up band practice so we were watching movies together until we headed home.
