Chapter 4: Roots

Alex is again puzzled on Lawrence’s statements. First, it was his yes to his ill-mannered girl then his weird stare when Mira sang, and now, he gave an unmanageable challenge to Blizzard and the petite girl.

“Endless Love?” the petite girl was startled.

“Yes. If his weakness is with lyrics, if we give him a partner, we might be able to solve his problem,” Lawrence smiled and it removed the tension compressing inside the room.

Blizzard started to sing smoothly but as the song progressed; his lyrical mistakes were becoming worse. On the other hand, the girl sang the song without difficulty. Their duet could have been better if they had practiced but still, they were far better than on their individual parts.

“Well done, we will give our yes to you. Please come on Monday,” Lawrence said with a smile.

“Thank you, sir and ma’am. I am Hannah Rivera,” the petite girl expressed her gratitude with a big smile as she introduced herself.

Before the two new students left the school, Blizzard stared at Suzy, the girl that revealed his secret problem.

“Hey! I’m not a painting so don’t stare at me,” Suzy said arrogantly.

Blizzard and Hannah left the school but the bigger tension has yet to be revealed.

“So we now have eight students; how would we find the other two?” Lawrence asked Alex.

“Eight students? Are you really sure? Lawrence, I know you are a frustrated singer. But the future of the school depends here. If we will put our personal interest first, we would not be able to succeed,” Alex explained.

“You mean Suzy, right? Trust me, she is deserving of this spot,” Lawrence was confident in his daughter...

“Hya! Don’t tell me you are serious of putting me into this trash school?” Suzy started again on ridiculing the arts school.

“Hey ill-mannered kid, this school is not trash. We do not need you here so if you want to leave, then go! We don’t need trash students,” Alex has started on bringing up a fight.

“Correction, I never said you needed me,” Suzy glared to Alex.

Suzy left in bad mood.  Alex was also very annoyed by Lawrence’s daughter.

“So that’s your daughter? If she wasn’t really your daughter, I’m sorry but I would have already slapped her,” Alex told Lawrence.

“I understand. Please be patient with Suzy. I know I am not a good father. Please believe me. She can really be one of our assets,” Lawrence still somehow had confidence in his daughter.

“I know you know her more than anyone else, but if it’s for the school, I will trust you,” Alex replied.

“Isn’t ironic that even she keeps telling that she hated music so much, she stayed watching the audition and even gave her opinions?” Lawrence lightened up the mood.

“Regarding the two students left, we need to go to somewhere tomorrow,” Alex said.

Outside the school, Suzy was walking to her house when she noticed that the guy she embarrassed, Blizzard, was following her.

“Yah! Are you a pervert? Why do you keep following me?” Suzy became alert.

“I just want to ask how you knew my song. Are you Korean?” Blizzard asked innocently.
