Little note, but it's pretty important so bear with me. The location, jobs, and people in this story are based off of my previous book, Winter Wasteland. It's pretty important to know so I suggest going and checking out my chapter titled 'epilogue' if you don't wanna read the whole book. But be warned, if you do end up reading Winter Wasteland later the epilogue contains spoilers so... I'll let you deal with that. You can find Winter Wasteland on my profile, and so with out further ado here is the first chapter :D OH and, they all look like their minecraft skins but as humans... And baccas I guess... And Preston isn't gonna be this weird lava person, he'll just look kinda like he does irl. ... Orrrr you can just skip all that and read the story... Which you're probably gonna do anyways.Warnings: None
~Mitch's P.O.V.~
The bright sun smiles down upon me as I sit against my favourite maple tree in the whole village. It's located right near the edge, facing away from the mountain that protects one side of the village. I sit back and sigh in content, taking another bite of the sandwich clutched in my hand. Today is everyone's relaxing day, well at least out of the six of us that mainly run this place. Everyone except Preston that is, who people still come to him if their going out somewhere. He's just not organizing expeditions or going out on any today. I close my eyes and and lean my head against the tree, enjoying the cool summer breeze.
"Mitch!"
I open one eye lazily, glancing at Jerome who is waving at me from beside the bakery which is located at the edge of the village. He begins jogging over to me and I sit up slowly, deciding he's worth at least some sort of attention.
"I thought I might find you out here." He chuckles, approaching me.
"Haha sorry, once I finish this sandwich I was actually thinking of taking a nap out here."
"Really? Okay... Sorry to disturb you then."
"Don't worry about it G, this tree isn't exactly the most comfortable pillow in the world. So what's up?"
"Nothing much... Since it's our day off today I though I'd stop by to see what you were doing."
"Well if you wanna go on an adventure your out of luck, because as you said, today is our day off!" I smile, leaning back on the tree once again.
"Respectable. Mind if I join you?"
"Nope."
"Sweet!"Jerome plops himself down on the grass and leans back on the thick tree beside me. I scoot to the side to give him room and his eyes flicker to me to acknowledge my action. Then he pulls out his diamond axe, Benny, I had given him for Christmas and picks up a random stone to begin sharpening it. (Jerome lost his axe Betty during winter wasteland FYI)
"Well since today is our 'rest day' do you think tomorrow we could go on an adventure somewhere?" He asks, momentarily stopping his sharpening to look over at me.
I can sense he wants to do something, but he's being mindful of the fact I want to relax today... Which is true. I feel a bit guilty since he came over looking for something exciting to do only to be rejected. I'm going to stick to my plan but I guess I can make plans later to notify Preston we'll be gone tomorrow.
"Tomorrow it is then. Anywhere particular you wanna go?"
"Well I do need to restock on Nether Quartz..."
"So you're saying you want to go to the Nether?"
"Yeah pretty much."
"Sounds good to me but I don't have any fire resistance potions left so we're gonna have to be careful."
"Yeah, we'll stay away from the lava as much as we can."
"Okay deal." I grin, giving him a fist bump. The rest of the day we just kinda sit around, talking about random things, nothing really special. But soon enough the last rays of the sun behind to disappear over the horizon, a spider spawning somewhere in the distance.
"I'll tell Preston what we're doing in the morning. What time should we meet here at?" Jerome questions, pushing himself up.
"Eh, doesn't matter. Whenever your ready is fine with me. But let's say noon at latest."
"Sure! Cya tomorrow Mitch!" Jerome calls, waving as he walks away.
"Night Jerome!" I shout after him, deciding to wait a few more minutes before strolling back towards our house.Shutting the wooden door silently behind me I tip toe into the dark main room, making my way blindly down the hall that leads to our rooms and making sure not to wake anyone. Slipping into my room I shut the door behind me, stepping over to my bed and pulling back the thick covers. But right before I slip into the comfort of my blankets I glance at my pile of chests against the wall, a sign labelling what each one generally stores. Why put off tomorrow what you can do today?
"Might as well get everything ready now..." I remark, my eyes adjusting to the dark as I reach for my chests. "Let's see what we have here..."
Iron pickaxe x2
Diamond pickaxe x1
Iron chest plate x2
Diamond leggings x1
Iron leggings x1
Iron helmet x2
Iron boots x2
Bow x2
Arrows x100

Mushroom stew x2I stuff everything into one backpack, because thats how logic works, and set out a full iron set of armour plus diamond leggings on my armour stand, placed in a dark corner of my room near the door. Now extremely tired I yawn widely, not hesitating to jump under the covers, pulling them up to my chin and promptly drifting to sleep.
~Time skip to morning~
Groaning I rub my bleary eyes, disturbed by the bright sunlight shining directly onto my face from the window above. Shifting so I'm not blinded I sit up drowsily in my bed, the effects of just waking up rendering me immobile for a few minutes. Finally shambling out of bed I creak open my door and shuffle down to our kitchen, pulling out a baked potato from a chest for breakfast. Then walking back out I slip out of the front door and start heading towards the maple tree to wait for Jerome. I'll put my armour on there... And as for Jerome he can tell Preston we're heading out.
