The story begin in:
Mary is now pregnant for her first baby with Philip. She was just a housewife. Her husband was workin It's been a hot sunny day in the green field of Guatemala. Some trees and plants are now getting withered because of too much heat of the sun.
Even with that condition, children where happily playing bare footed and half-naked. People were busy going back and forth from the market to the field and vice versa. Some were working on the farm with their whole family.
Others were having their picnic on the riverbanks. It was a very peaceful and calm day for all the people on that town.
Just a few miles from the field was the town proper where you can find the big market, high buildings and other infrastructures .
There live a couple, Mary and Philip. They were just new couple. They live together but they are not married. It's because Mary was then married to another guy. Have one child. But because his husband was drug addicted, she decided to leave with her son. But unfortunately, her husband take the child away without her knowing, leaving Mary alone.
And there she met Philip who learn to understand, love care and accepted her past.g in a mining company. They have a good living together. Actually, that month was her due month. And she expect that one day of the month, she will give birth to a child.
Just then, after she had finished washing their clothes, cleaned the house, took a bath and had a rest, she struggle for pain. and she's about to deliver her baby. Philip went to look for the person or the "traditional hilot". After an hour, a very cute and healthy baby girl was delivered. They named her Erah.
A few months after, Philip changes. He became alcoholic and always going home late at night. Their life became miserable for about three months.
Mary and Erah have to sleep on their neighborhoods house because every time her husband went home drunk, he always shout and threw everything he can see.
Even the neighbors were afraid if they heard him doing that. Some of them hesitate to let Mary and her daughter stay on their house.
