"Sky! Hurry up or you'll be late for your last day of school!" Slowly I peeked out from my warm solitude of my blankets. Glaring at the clock I notice I have an hour before I actually need to be on school premises.
Yet does that stop my mother from yelling so the whole neighborhood can hear? Of course not! Though I count myself lucky I have parents who care. Even if they aren't biological, there still my parents. For a quick insight, they're my godparents. To shorten that heartbreak. Actual parents does in a car crash, godparents got me. But that was five years ago. Grief can be hard but always leave then laughing as dad would say.
"Sky! Did you hear me? Get out of bed and get dressed! You'll be late for school!" Glaring at the door I swung my feet out and almost back in as my feet hit the icy floor. Reluctantly I got up and went through my normal routine of getting ready. 'Shower, shit and shave' dad always said.Stopping to look in the mirror for a quick overlook, a smile crept into my face. Damn! I look good today. My black hair looked soft and hung losely around my shoulders in soft curls. I only ever apply makeup simply for I never need a lot. Though I always like to make my eyes pop since there my mothers. Bright green. I decided against anything fancy for my last day and just out on some jeans and a soft black shirt. My friends say I look emo or goth, but unlike them I can pull it off.
Heading down stairs I see my mom putting her famous last day of school breakfast on the breakfast bar. She looked at me and gestured to sit and start eating. Dad walked in shortly after with a strange kind of smile. Walking over to me he hands me a yellow envelope.
"What's this?" Taking it from him I slide the contents in my hand. Its a pair of car keys. Slowly I look back at him. Has wearing one of those cheesy dad like smiles.
"Since your now eighteen and are graduating from high school. We figured you'd want to be able to get around on your own. So... We bought you a car." They finally did it. They shocked me into silence. We aren't the richest of families and for them to buy me my own car. Was more then I could ever ask for. Jumping up I fling my arms around my fads neck and give him a big hug.
"Oh my God! I can't believe you bought me a car!" I was practically shrieking at them. Running over and giving my mom as big as a hug. "Thank your guys so much! No one could ask for better parents then you guys."
"Well there will be rules still. But I think you can handle it now. You've grown so much and your mother and father would be so proud of you Sky." Mom hugged me tighter trying not to cry.
"I know they're very proud. Cause if you guys are I know for sure they are."
"Well then don't just stand around go outside and check it out." My dad chuckled as I ran for one more quick hug and booked it towards the door.
My jaw dropped at the sight of my new car. Well its old but new to me. I don't care I have a car! Not just any car, it's my dream car. '77 Lincoln continetal. 102 spoke, spoked rims. Ford 460ci interceptor. Double pillow topped leather seats. To top it off it's the same color green as my eyes. Bright green on the outside with chrome all over; soft green on the inside. Needless to say I was drooling. Tears stung the corners of my eyes.
My parents came up behind me. Turning around I ran I to their arms. Crying for a few moments I pulled back and smiled. "This is the most amazing gift anyone has ever given me. Well, except for my parents giving birth to me and all. Have to give them props on that." Laughing I shook my so no more tears would fall.
"Your parents would be glad that you got it. It originally was your dads. Way back when, you know the stoneage. He left it to you in the will but told us to keep it a secret for today. Its his last gift to you." I could see tears start to well up in his eyes. Hell mine were threatening to over flow.
