Weeks had passed and things were changing. August took a break from the streets like he promised, but only because Don told him to lay low. There was a new D.A. and he wasn’t a cheapskate bastard like the last one; he refused to take the money offers to not investigate the coincidental “suicides” appearing back-to-back. August was now focusing on school, which was a major change for him. Of course she was right by his side, helping him along the way. She loved the fact that he was out of the streets, but she didn’t know the real reason why. If the D.A. tied August to the deaths he would be put under the prison, for life. For now though, they were both happy and nothing could take that away from them.

“I bought you breakfast.” He pushed the bag towards her and she hurriedly slid it back in his direction. “I don’t feel too good. I don’t really have an appetite.” He gave her a concerned look but she just waved it off. For as long as he knew her, she always ate no matter how sick she was. He spent the whole hour and fifteen minutes watching her as she looked back and forth between her screen and what was being projected at the front of the room. He noticed the slight bags under her eyes, ones that only he could see for the fact that he was around her every day. She looked so beautiful with no makeup on and all he wanted to do was admire her. Just as he was about to ask her if she wanted to leave, she hastily stood covering her mouth and rushing out of the door.

“Whoa, come on I got you.” He rubbed circles around her back as she heaved onto the floor. Soon one of the custodial staff were standing there with a trash bin for her to throw up into instead of the floor he now had to clean. “I'm so sor-“ she managed to get out before more came up. “No problem ma’am, you just feel better.” August quietly entered the class and gathered her things with his before walking back out to an empty hallway. “She walked towards the bathroom sir.” The janitor spoke as he mopped across the floor. “Thank you.” August nodded and headed in that direction.

She slept peacefully in the bed as August sat at his desk, completing his assignments before starting on hers. He didn’t plan on waking her up just to do some work that he could easily do himself. He could hear her stirring behind him, obviously trying to get comfortable. “Will you come lay with me?” her voice cracked slightly. “Yea.” Was all he said as he got up to go join her in the bed. “You feel any better? I bought you a ginger ale, it’s in the fridge.” She was the only one who saw this side of him, the sweet August, the one who actually gave a fuck. His arms wrapped around her waist as she placed he head gently on his chest. “August, I think we should talk” were the last words he heard before his door opened and there stood two police officers and a federal agent. “August Alsina, you're under arrest for three counts of capital murder and one count of burglary. Anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law….”

The rest was a blur as she watched them handcuff him and take him away. Tears streamed down her face as he told her everything would be okay. She clenched her stomach as she felt a sick feeling coming over her, watching the only man she loved being stripped from her. Why was this happening? He was trying to do right and put all of that stuff in the past. She NEEDED him there with her and now he wasn’t. What was she going to do with her protector missing, THEIR protector missing. She searched frantically for his phone and searched for the only person she knew could help him out of this situation.

She stood at the payphone outside of the city limits. The phone rang for what seemed like hours. “Speak.” The heavy voice wheezed, “They got August.” Was all she said before hanging up the phone and pushing her dark shades up higher on her face. It was up to her to get him out of there, she couldn’t do this alone, she refused to do it alone. She placed her hand on her flat stomach and thought about what she had to do for the sake of her family.

This one was shorter than the rest, but I will post more later after my exam! Hope you enjoy and tell a friend to tell a friend! Thank you :)
