Chapter 1 || The Lucky Match
As Zayn drives the two girls to where the match is taking place, Liam prepares for what is to come. Things had been going wrong for him lately, he wasn't winning any matches. He was afraid of losing again tonight. Today the audience is much larger than the previous ones. More people will be watching him screw up.
He just needed to win tonight. For once, he needed luck. Being so superstitious, he wore everything which could give him luck. He wore his favourite socks, his "lucky" boxers. He even invited his Dad, with hope that it'll make him lucky this time.
"Time for a quick prayer, Liam." His trainer tells him. Liam nods his head and closes his eyes, he hands held together tightly on his lap.
God, just please help me win. I need luck. It'll mean everything to me. Amen.
After his moment of silence he gets prepared for what could be the worst or best match of his life.
"You'll do great tonight, I know you will." His trainer, Mark, encourages as he pats Liam on his back.
"I'll try my best but I'm relying on the luck tonight, well, as usual." Liam truthfully says.
"Something's gonna be different today, it's gonna change. You'll win it, you deserve it." Mark states before walking off to greet the referee and opponent.
After Mark walks off, Liam looks at the clock on the wall not too far away. Realising the time for the match was near, he gets up to warm up. He starts with jumping jacks, doing 30 and then stopping. He does a few stretches but it is interrupted by the ringtone of his phone. He stops, drinks a bit of his water and answers the call after seeing Zayn's name on his phone screen.
"We just arrived, you ready to win?" Zayn says, chuckling quietly afterwards.
"Let's just hope I win, I've been crap lately."
"You'll be fine, it's not the end of the world if you lose so there's no pressure." He reassures the worried boy.
"Alright, thanks mate. I'll see you in a bit, got some stretches to do." After hearing that, Zayn says a quick goodbye and ends the call.
Whilst Liam does what he needs to do, the boys and Jade and Perrie take their seats, waiting for the match to begin. All were feeling nervous for Liam apart from Jade. She wanted to go home. She didn't want to watch Liam box, she had no interest in it whatsoever, unless he was getting hurt. Whether he won or not, it wouldn't bother her. She only wanted it to end quickly so she could go home and get as far away from him as she could. It was cruel but it was the truth.
"The match will be starting in 5 minutes," the referee announces through a mic.
"I don't even know why I agreed to come with you." Jade complains to Perrie who was sitting on her left.
"Because you love me?" Perrie suggests with a cheeky smile.
"Because you wouldn't shut up." Jade retorts. After Jade's response Perrie giggled and turned to Zayn. She knew Jade was in a bad mood but for some strange reason she found it amusing. It wasn't usual for her to be grumpy, apart from when she's in her period - of course - which is why she doesn't take offence because of her rude remarks.
"You don't have to be so moody, you might see Sam here, you know." She says, a small smile still on her lips.
"Why would he be here?" Jade questions with curiosity.
"I dunno, always expect the unexpected." She replies, turning to Zayn once again to avoid anymore questions which might cause her to accidentally spit it out. Jade shrugs it off, not feeling bothered about anything.
