Mark and Ryan still weren't back. They went to get some snacks for the little party they were having. They had told Matt and Jack "we'll be a bit, we need more food and stuff".
That was 3 and a half hours ago.
They had become extremely worried. They thought they'd be home just as quickly as they left. That's obviously not the case.
"They'll be back soon, don't worry." Jack tried to reassure Matt.
"..." Matt stared at him. "I'm an entire mile over the fucking worry point." Now it was a glare. Jack sighed and nodded.
"I understand. I'm sorry." Matt quit glaring and sadly looked over at Jack.
"It's ok, you don't have to apologize. I'm the one who snapped so it should be me saying sorry." He gave Jack a small side hug and rested his head on Jack's shoulder. They both sighed, waiting for some kind of sign that Mark and Ryan were ok.
They began to think of the worst possible things. Not that they weren't already doing it, they started imagining different scenarios some hours ago. Just when they were about to give up, Matt's phone rang. They shot up and ran towards the phone sitting on the kitchen table without looking to see who it was. How smart. Matt put the phone on speaker.
"Hello? Ryan? Mark? Is that you?" Matt asked frantically. A voice answered, but it was neither.
"Unfortunately, no. This is the hospital. I'm guessing you're Matt Watson?" the voice replied.
"Y-Yes. This is."
"Good. I'm calling about your friends Mark Fischbach and Ryan Magee," Matt and Jack's hearts were pounding. "They have been in a car accident." Their hearts stopped. Matt began to shake so Jack took the phone from him. "Are you still there?" The voice asked. Matt couldn't say anything so Jack answered instead.
"Yes, we are."
"Alright. I'm very sorry for the news, but thankfully, they are ok. They have some semi-serious injuries like broken bones, but they will be fine. If you would like, you can come down right now and see them." Jack looked at Matt as if asking if he would be well enough to go. He nodded.
"We'll be down there as soon as we can." Jack said.
"I'll be sure to tell them they will have guests soon." They hung up and ran to get ready to leave. As soon as that happened, they were out the door.
