She was laying in the bed of her dads truck, watching the stars. He had passed away and she was hoping that it would be one of the first things she'd inherit from him. She looked quite nice that night in a pair of shorts and a tank top. Her shorts were a size too big on her waist but a size too small around her butt. Her tank top had a light, fluffy feather going across it diagonally from the breast area down to her opposing side.

She had on her necklace that her Aunt had made her right after her dad passed. It had an angel wing, a heart with the word 'Daddy' carved on it, and a washer with the saying 'I used to be his angel, now he's mine' carved in around the edge. She had them in hand, running her thumb around the washer in a circular pattern. She was lying on her back, legs bent and to one side under her. Her hair, a nice ombre color, starting with a deep warm brown at her roots and ending with a light dirty blonde color and the ends, was spread wildly, being it's curly mess. Her left arm was above her head,  her right hand being the one messing with her necklace.

She had drove her mom and sisters out to her aunts who lived off in the sticks. She asked if she could pull the truck around behind the house in the backyard so she could do exactly what she was doing at that moment and watch the stars. Her eyes had a beautiful ombre effect as well, that started with a light brown around her pupil, fading into a light forest green and then fading into an Egyptian blue with a dark silver ring around it. They darted back and forth across the sky, watching the beautiful stars twinkle and shimmer.

The question she had thrown out there a few seconds before was simple. She was just waiting for the answer. Just a sign that he might be listening to her, just maybe. She heard leaves crunching near her and the sound was getting closer. Her eyes went wide and she held her breath. She was scared to know what would look over the edge of the truck.

She refrained from moving at all though she wanted to shift in the uncomfortable tension so bad. She continued to stare at the sky, still waiting for that sign that he'd be listening. As someone begins to climb in the bed of the truck with her, she sees two stars fly across the sky. She smiles and then looks at the face of the person climbing in the truck. He lays down next to her and watches the stars with her. He speaks up after a couple minutes of oddly comfortable silence.

"How've you been? Been okay-ish?" He reached over and stroked her hair, pushing it flat on the bed, then watching it poof back up. She just kind of nodded her head. Still watching the stars, pretending she wasn't overwhelmed with the feelings she's been stuffing away for this boy, and the hurt in her heart over loosing her dad.

She looked at his face. Being so close to him, she could finally see all the light brown freckles that flowed from the side of one cheekbone, across the bridge of his nose, and to the end of the other. She looked into his light green eyes, that had golden flecks in them, and gave him a sad smile. She glanced down to his lips, two thin lines of light pink, though barely a different shade from the rest of his tan skin, there was still an obvious difference. There was a small light freckle on his upper lip she had never noticed before. Being as close as she was, she could see so many different things on his face that he had never let her get close enough to see before.

She'd had a crush on him for almost two years now, but she always told herself no, those feelings aren't having a crush, they're stupid feelings that shouldn't exist because he'd never like her back anyways, so they were pointless. He knew she'd had a crush on him too, and began avoiding her because of it. So being the person she was, she made sure he didn't have to go to the trouble of avoiding her and started avoiding him herself. She tended to do that a lot.

She glanced almost an inch up to his cute button nose and listened as he took a breath, then let it out. He had a baby face, with curly locks of brown hair framing it and a baseball cap always on his head.

She looked back at the sky and asked a silent question this time. Asking it out loud would probably earn her a weird look from the boy next to her. She saw yet another star shoot across the sky and that made her happy, yet sad. She let tears well up in her eyes and let one slide down the side of her face. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, trying to calm herself. Then she felt a finger begin to wipe away the tears falling from her eyes and sighed. She opened her eyes and looked to him. His brows were drawn up and taught in a concerned manner, the boy sitting up now, looking down at her. She rolled to her side, her face drawing tight as she began to cry.

She hid her face as she felt arms encase her in a strong embrace as he pulled her in his lap to comfort her. She heard him suck a deep breath in and realized she wasn't the only one crying. She pulled her hands from her face and embraced him in her arms as well. As they sat there in each other's arms, crying over a lossed man, all she could hear then was him telling her he was sorry for being so rude the whole time they'd known each other, that her dad had been an amazing man, and how he wished he'd gotten to know him better, and had never turned down going to her house to see her family.

She looked up at him to say it was okay, but she saw something out of the corner of her eye. She jerked her head to face the sky and saw what looked like a meteor shower. She didn't know there was a meteor shower scheduled to happen. She squished him in her arms and they sat there together and watched the beauty happening. As she looked back at him, she saw that he'd been watching her the whole time. She smiled lightly and looked him in the eyes.

Suddenly, there were hands in her hair, her head moved forward and her lips collided with his. He kissed her, knowing it was her first kiss. Keeping one hand in her hair and wrapping an arm around her waist, he had pulled her to him. She relaxed after a second and kissed him back. They stayed that way for a couple seconds, maybe only four, and by the time they'd pulled away, the shower had stopped. She looked up at the sky, and in the dark clouds, she saw one go in front of the moon. It was slightly trasparent and she saw what seemed to be the shape of a face.

It looked like her father's face. He was smiling and looking down at her. She heard a voice in her head saying, "Hey babygirl, it's daddy. I love you, I'm happy he's finally come around for you. Goodbye baby."

With that she woke up in a bed. She was at her Aunt house, in her cousin's bedroom on his bed. Laying next to her was the boy that had been with her in her dream. She smiled at him, but then a confused look showed across her face. She nudged the boy and he grunted. She bumped him again and he mumbled a what.

"What're we doing in the same bed?" She asked him, slightly concerned.

"Your mom asked me to lay in here with you because you got drunk and she didn't want you to wake up and freak out if you were alone. Go back to sleep beautiful." He smiled at her sleepily and pulled her in his arms to cuddle her.

She hummed lightly with satisfaction and smiled at the last thing he'd said to her. He called me beautiful......
