Metal Scar

In the darkness of the night, only a sparkling star was shining. A star which had the peculiar form of the letter " A" which could be glimpsed miles away like a lighthouse in the middle of the ocean. I stood in one of the rooms of the Tower Tony got me after Nick Fury added me to the team of the Avengers. Indeed, the aftermath of an explosion of light molecules in the lab changed me. So now, I could control any light reflection of an object and its energy. I was the only survivor of the accident and of course, SHIELD came in and found me lying unconscious in the ruins of the lab. Two years later, I met the Avengers during the attack of Loki on Earth by working for SHIELD and I helped them. Bonds were created and Natasha and I became good friends.

Let's come back to our main topic. Steve had finally found Bucky and convinced Tony to let him stay in the Tower. How did he do it? I had no idea. What matters was the fact that I couldn't think straight each time I saw the dark Winter Soldier. Natasha always rolled her eyes and elbowed me when he came into the same room I was. She tried to encourage me to make the first move but instead, I mainly got bruises on my hips. Laying on my back in my bed, I was watching the ceiling, playing with a light orb in my hand. I used to do that to relax. Using my power just contemplate the sparkling light was so relaxing. It didn't require a lot of concentration and over the years, I could use the glare of the sun to create energy shields and even lighten the darkest place. Suddenly, someone knocked at the door which pulled me out of my thoughts. I got up and returned the orb to its original place at the ceiling and opened the door. I absolutely didn't expect to find Bucky on my doorstep who seemed uncomfortable. We spoke quite often and even started to train together but I noticed he was still distant as if he was afraid of something. Immediately I asked:

" Hi Bucky, are you okay?"

Some of his brown hair was falling in front of his striking blue eyes and he was wearing a white tight shirt ( probably taken to Steve), a black pant and boots, and he was holding his metal arm with his valid hand. Avoiding my eyes, he said:

" Steve told me you could help me with your powers."

I smiled at him and nodded. I let him space to come into my room but an air of confusion appeared on his face.

" We will be better in my room than on the doorstep, don't you think?"

He looked at me before slowly nodded. He discreetly watched the room and I sat on the edge of the bed.

" What can I do for you, Bucky?"

The azure gaze of the soldier landed on me and a warm shiver crossed my spine. He frowned:

" Are you afraid of me Y/N?"

" Of course not."

I hold his gaze for a moment while he seemed to analyse if he should or not ask for my help. Should he leave and join Steve back? Or should he stay even if he didn't really know how to behave normally with a woman? He came closer to Y/N and kneeled in front of her to be at the good height of the Avenger. The latter gasped a little by his behaviour but didn't make a move. Bucky removed his hand from his metal arm showing the scars he hated the most. White threads in skin snaking around his shoulder and torso. He announced in a hoarse voice:

"My arm became rusty and Stark hasn't finished building the new metal arm so Steve advised me to see you saying that you could do something about it."

He raised his head and I dove into his mesmerising blue eyes. I blushed and my heartbeat sped up. I understood what he meant by the utility of my powers.

" Sure. I just need you to not move. It won't hurt I promise. I am going to use the spark of the metal to bloom it up, okay?"

I put both of my hands of his arm and took a deep breath. I focused on the feeling invading my veins and let my power struck his metal arm. I reanimated the parts which were bruised and sparkled the iron. My hand was embodied by a bright aura while a warm heat was spreading through my fingers. Bucky looked at me in awe but didn't move a bit, wearing the stoical mask of the Winter Soldier. When I touched his shoulder and his scars, he tensed like a bow. I put a comforting hand on his chest and stopped my power.

" I have finished, your arm is as new as it was at the beginning."

The soldier nodded but stayed put. I observed his tensed jaw, his soft hair falling around his face and his blue eyes so cold usually but so hesitant right now. Slowly, I cupped his face in my hands and forced him to look at me. He could free himself very easily but he let me do it. Time stopped between us while we gazed at each other, his skin so soft under my touch, and our breath mixing together. My power reacted to the situation instinctively and a bright glimmer sparkled my hands holding his. Bucky shivered a bit before relaxing, his eyes closing and all the tension burdened on his shoulders vanished. He blinked and suddenly grabbed my waist, holding my body tightly against him. I didn't know how to react for a few seconds so I just stayed motionless while my power slowly stopped by releasing a bubble of light in the air. " What do I do?" I thought, biting my lip.He never acted like this before! Was he the Bucky-before-the-war Steve talked about?  Gradually, I stroked his brown hair and he sighed at my touch, relaxing. I stroked him from the scalp to the neck, enjoying the softness of his skin and going down his shoulder, barely touching his scars but Bucky held me tighter and groaned. I stopped and frowned:

-"Bucky, you shouldn't be ashamed of your arm. It's a part of you, you know?"

I kept stroking his skin, however, he got up, getting out of my embrace and sat down next to me on the bed, a pained air painted on his face.

" I hate this arm. It's a weapon of mass destruction. It 's as cold as me."

I sighed and put a hand on his flesh arm.

" You're wrong."

I put my other hand on his metal arm and he tried to get off but I held him still, stubborn as was I.

" You are James Buchanan Barnes and I... I care about you. This arm belongs to you. You are in charge of it. Hydra used to commit murders through it but now you can change that. You can use it to lift a tree, to stop a car, to carry heavy things, to help people! Your arm is not gone, it is still here, it 's a like a scar, a metal scar, Buck."

" A metal scar" he repeated, coming closer while I kept on explaining the advantages of his arm with enthusiastic gestures.

I smiled at him.

" Exactly, a metal scar. I found your new nickname, my dear Bucky. You'll be my Metal Scar."

He roughly grabbed me and put me against his chest whispering in my ear :

" I like the sound of that name on your tongue Y/N" before kissing my lips tenderly. I froze at the moment but when I realised he was kissing me and then I kissed him back, passing my hands around his neck. He held me lovingly against him and I couldn't help but blushed when he deepened the kiss. Nevertheless, the moment was ruined when the door was suddenly opened by Steve.

" Y/N, Tony removed ALL my lights in my room AGAIN, could you..oh...euh... sorry nevermind!"

When he became aware of the situation his friends were, Steve's face turned into a tomato. He apologised and rushed out of the room, cursing Tony again about the bet he made with him. I frowned at the patriotic soldier thinking about the problem of Steve's room when someone got me out of my thoughts. Bucky put me on his lap, his metal arm on my waist. He asked with a glimmer of joy in his blue eyes:

"Be my girl?"

Well, I didn't think twice and just kissed him with passion as an answer to his question.
