CHAPTER 25

"BOO!" I shouted from behind the tree.

Dexter simply sighed, "Would you drop the ninja thing Yuri?"

"You knew I was there all along?" I asked as I sat beside him.

I saw Dexter under our Cherryblossom Tree this morning so I decided to use my super cool ninja skills on him. Which obviously failed. I sighed.

"I heard your footsteps."

"You could have at least pretended." I suggested.

"Well, pretending is not my thing."

I rested my head on his shoulder then closed my eyes. It's snowing today but I didn't feel that cold. Weird huh?

"Yuri?" I heard him say.

"Hmmm?"

"Merry Christmas."

I lifted my head from his shoulder and gave him a questioning look.

"You already greeted me." I said then remembered waking up at 12 midnight because my phone was ringing. I thought it was my mom but it wasn't. It was Dexter.

"You even sang Merry Christmas Baby again for me." I remembered hearing his voice as he sang the sweetest song I've ever heard. Of course I found it sweet 'cause he wrote it for me.

"Can't I greet you over and over?" He asked.

I thought for a moment, "Well, I guess you can."

He kissed my forehead. "I'm going to miss you."

"Me too." I said. "When you're on tour with the band make New York your first stop, okay?"

"I already did. I talked to Shin and the others. They all agreed."

I hugged him. Suddenly I remembered something.

"We haven't wrote a song yet!"

"So?" He said in a bored tone.

"The interview is TOMORROW, Dexter."

"Like I said... So? We can write a song in just about an hour. Less even. Piece of cake."

I simply sighed. There was a long silence.

Things are happening so fast. I'm officially out of the band. Tomorrow's the interview. The flight. I can't imagine leaving Philippines. I'll feel like an outcast there.

Not knowing what to do I simply said out loud:

"I hate my mother."

I felt him shrug, "Don't say that."

I looked at him immediately, "What?"

"Don't say stuff like that."

"Why?"

"Because she's your mom."

Is he defending my mother? "And she's the reason why I'm leaving, why I left the band."

"Maybe she did it for a reason." He said.

I lifted my head again from his shoulder and looked at him.

"What are you trying to say? That she's the greatest mother in the world?"

"No, Tsk. I don't know." He messed up his hair.

"I don't get you. One minute your defending her and now..."

SILENCE....

"She's doing this for you, Yuri."
